never there for me

Jungkook silently let out a sigh when Chaeyoung asked him if he is alright. He knows that she must have seen how bad he played in the match that they barely got 1 point from. Luckily Jimin scored at the last minute of the match to make sure they secured the place for the last 16 stage.

"Jungkook, are you there, baby?", Chaeyoung asks again.

Hearing her voice, Jungkook clears his throat before speaking up, "I'm sorry. Umm...what did you call me? Baby?"

Chaeyoung giggles to him, "Now I got your attention again. Are you alright? You seemed to be out of focus in the match earlier.."

He nods his head before saying, "I have something to tell you."

"Okay, what is it?", Chaeyoung ask curiously.

"Alright. It's actually about yesterday's afternoon.", Jungkook begins.

Jungkook was on his way with Jimin to have their lunch together with the other teammates when Jimin nudged his elbow as they walked out of the elevator. Jungkook who was having his earphones on paused the song he listened to before Jimin pointed to someone behind him that called his name. He looked back with wide eyes as he did not expect to see her there.

"Hyung, you go ahead.", he told Jimin before Jimin left them alone.

"Hi, son. Have you eaten?", Jiwoo asked with a little smile on her face.

Jungkook purposely took off his earphones harshly before clicking his tongue in annoyance, "I'm on my way to eat actually. What are you doing here? Is it your number that has been harassing me these days?"

Jiwoo's smile faded when she heard the way Jungkook talked to her. She admitted that she was the one that have been calling him but he always rejected her call. Then, she asked him to have lunch with her at the hotel's cafe so he followed her as she said she has something important to talk to with him.

"First of all, I'm sorry if my presence is bothering you, Jungkook. But, I really need to see you.", Jiwoo said after the waiter left their table.

"Let's just get straight to the point. What is so important that you bugged me and even came here to see me? I thought we cannot meet again after Sydney.", Jungkook sounded very cold as he talked with his estranged mother.

Jiwoo sighed at him knowing that he is really hurt by what she did the last time they met. "Have you ever wondered where your dad is, Kook? Why he never appeared in your life?", she asked him in a sudden.

"Why suddenly we talking about someone I never met?", he still sounded cold but it was softer than before. She knew that deep inside his heart, he wanted to know who his father is.

"Because I should've told you about him sooner. At least, let you know a little bit about him.", Jiwoo said while looking away from Jungkook's curious gaze on her.

"Why? What is there for me to know about my dad?", Jungkook asked.

Jiwoo took a photo from her purse and put it on the table. She showed it to Jungkook who was looking at the strange photo. The photo looked old as it has tattered corners and some yellowish colours on the sides of it. He knew the woman in the photo but not the man beside her.
