save you from them

Jungkook wakes up to the sound of waves splashing and birds chirping in the morning. When he opens his eyes wide, he sees Chaeyoung standing with her feet being washed by the small waves of the sea. He observes her from  there and see that she is wiping her face.

"Is she crying?", he asks himself before he fixed his hair and smells his breath. "Still fine.", he gets out quietly before walking without a sound towards her.

When he gets close and just one step behind her, he thinks of how to greet her. Either surprise her with a hug or just waves his hand at her. The morning is chilly and the seawater touching his feet does not help much. He almost makes a sound when the waves come for his feet.

Luckily he quickly covers his mouth with his hand before he surprises Chaeyoung with his voice. After adapting his feet to the coldness of the sea, he slowly wraps his arms around Chaeyoung's waist giving her a sudden backhug.

"Jungkook!", his touch really startled her that she flinched in his arms.

"Good morning, sunshine.", he flashes his first smile of the day as he puts his chin on her left shoulder.

"Good morning. You startled me, Jungkook.", Chaeyoung replies shyly as she looks away from him. She does not expect to be greeted by him that way. It is her first time to get a backhug from him.

"I know.", Jungkook shortly replied before he removes his arms and stands beside her. "When did you wake up?", he asks as he looks at the wide sea in front of them.

Chaeyoung hums as if she is thinking. "Maybe half an hour ago. I stand here quite long, I guess.", she tells him after that.

"Mhmmm, so you've been crying for half an hour here.", he states.

"Crying? No...", she denies his accusation.

Jungkook walks forward and goes to face her. He smiles before taking her hands in his. Then, he touched her nose lightly before making another statement.

"Your nose is red. Your eyes are puffy. Yet you say you didn't just cry?", he cups her face with a warm smile.

"Did you see?", Chaeyoung asks him.

He nods his head, "Just a bit. Now, I'm here and wide awake. Do you want to tell me why you cried?"

"A lot. I cried for a lot of reasons.", she answers him before she looks down to the sand.

"I have a lot of time. I'll listen to those reasons.", he tells her as he squeezed her hand softly.

Chaeyoung nods to him before telling him, "I'll tell you but can we go back to your car? I've started to freezing here."

Jungkook chuckles as he lets her lead him back to his car, "I thought you'd never ask."

When they get back to his car, Chaeyoung tells him every reason she cried for that early morning. She tells him that she was reminded of her family. They used to bring her and her sister to the beach to celebrate her birthday. It was a small picnic style of celebration for her but she enjoyed it. Even though her memory of it is blurry, she remembered that that was her first time making a sandcastle with her sister. It was also her last with her. Then, she cried for not being able to do that again and relive the memory with them.

She tells him all the reasons which mostly are about her family and how she misses them. She still sheds tears when she tells him all that but Jungkook does not care about it. He tells her to just cry if she wants to because he knows how she feels at the moment.

Even though he has a different story of his own family, he understands how she feels considering how she lives without her family for years.

"You must've think what a crybaby I am, right?", she asks after she is done telling him everything.

Jungkook shakes his head, "What's wrong with being a crybaby? Everyone has that moment in their life that they feel just want to cry and they don't care about anything else. You don't have to care about what I think. If you feel like you're not crying enough, just keep on until you're done. I won't judge you."

"Why are you so understanding? Can't you be sarcastic for a while?", she asks him as she hits his shoulder lightly.

"I'm not that kind of person. I care about the people around me and for me, being sarcastic is mean. You don't know if you've hurt someone's feelings with your sarcasm.", Jungkook tells her about himself after talking about her all these while.

"By the way, you sure you didn't cry about what Jieun said last night?", he asks her but she just smiles to not talk about the topic. "At least, let me know what she said. I'm a curious person, you know? I'll seek for answer till I get it.", he tries again to make her speak up about last night.

Chaeyoung tells him to ask Jieun but he said that he already did. However, he does not get the answer from Jieun and is hoping Chaeyoung would tell him. Seeing that he really is curious, Chaeyoung sighs before giving up on keeping it a secret from him.

"She knows that I have DID.", she reveals to him. "She was forcing me to let my alter to come out but she failed. Thankfully they don't appear.", she adds the information to him.

"How did she...oh, I will have to talk to her. She's messing up with the wrong person.", Jungkook gets angry as he found out about it.

"No, let her be.", Chaeyoung says to calm him down.

He forms a fist while thinking how Jieun knows about Chaeyoung's disorder.

"She doesn't know what I can do to her. And she doesn't know what Rosé can do to her if she messed up with you.", he hits the wheel with his fist as he said that.

"Jungkook, it's okay! Don't hurt yourself because of me.", Chaeyoung pulls his hand and intertwined it with hers. "This is why I don't want to tell you. You'll be overreacting.", she adds with a pout formed on her face.

Jungkook chuckles seeing her reaction before he squeezed her cheeks playfully.

"Yah, Jungkook!!", she whines to what he did on her face.

"You're too cute. I can't handle it.", he says without apologising to her. "Now, tell me where you want to go. I'll drive us there.", he adds as he starts the engine.

When they reach her house, Jungkook demands to be the one leading her inside even though she does not want him to come inside. He insists to lead her in as he says he needs to make sure that she will not be shocked of anything. Because of that, Jungkook steps in to the living room first while Chaeyoung is putting her sneakers at the shoe rack.

He looks around as if inspecting for anything bizarre or weird around the house. The quietness of the house feels different to him as he tells Chaeyoung to wait at the door for a while. He walks a bit more and sees something that he should have not seen in the kitchen.

He sees Jisoo's eyes widened as they look at each other. He quickly turns around from the view of the couple making out near the sink before he covers Chaeyoung's mouth from talking. He pushes her back until they get out of the house with his hand still covering her mouth.

Only when she hits his hand several times, he removes his hand and shushed her from speaking out loud.

"We have to leave!", he whisper yelled to her before he pulls her hand to follow him out of the house.

"Jungkook, why?? Hey...", the clueless Chaeyoung is dragged inside his Lamborghini and he quickly drives away to his penthouse instead.

"Why you bring me here?", she asks him as he parks his car.

"To save you from them.", Jungkook tells her as he gets out of his car and goes to open the door for her. "Come on, you'll stay here for a while with me.", he extends his hand to her before she slowly takes it.
