this is awkward

He rings the bell for the third time before he hears the sound of someone yelling for him to stop. That must be Chaeyoung, he knows it since he had called Jisoo and she said that Chaeyoung is home. Alone as usual.

"Stop ringing the bell, please.", he hears her as she opens the gate a bit for him.

"Hi, Chaeyoung.", he greets while waving his hand at her.

Chaeyoung looks at him with the gate still opened just a bit enough for her to see that it is him out there. She does not have the intention to let him in, he can see it.

"What are you doing here?", she asks carefully as she looks at him from top to bottom.

"Um...I just...a bit bored at home. So, I come here. Did Jisoo noona tell you that I'm coming here?", he asks her back as he was sure he told Jisoo to inform Chaeyoung about his visit.

"Oh..she did but...don't you have a match later tonight? I just saw your team news on the TV.", she says to him.

Jungkook nods before answering, "Yeah, I'll be leaving in the evening for the match but...I still have some time before I go."

Chaeyoung is expecting him to keep talking but she found he did not continue after that. She feels awkward of the silent so she asks him, "Then, what are you here for?"

Jungkook finds it hard to answer because she seems to not understand the reason why he is there. He clears his throat before he starts to speak, "Your Jisoo noona and Seokjin hyung allowed me to be your friend so...I was just visiting to accompany you. I already told Jisoo noona that I will not hurt you or have an ill intention with you. I'm just here to be a friend to you, Chaeyoung."

Chaeyoung stares at him for a moment before she finally opens the gate wider and says, "You may come in."

After serving him a glass of lime juice, Chaeyoung stays quiet at the sofa and looks at the TV ignoring him. She does not know what to say or how to start a conversation with him. She feels awkward. Very awkward.

Even though Jisoo and Seokjin allowed Jungkook to be her friend, she feels so strange to be in the same place with him like that. Even though it is her own living room. Meanwhile, Jungkook is thinking of a topic to talk with her to break the growing quietness between them.

After the talk with Seokjin yesterday, he found out something unexpected about Chaeyoung. Seokjin told him of her disorder, Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), which is the reason of him and Jisoo to be extra protective of her. Seokjin asked him if he still wants to be her friend and he nodded without a doubt.

There is no reason for him to back down from being Chaeyoung's friend. But, when Seokjin asked the reason he wants to be Chaeyoung's friend...he had a trouble to answer it. He took time to think before he told Seokjin the reason.

"Maybe I could help her. You know, by being her friend, maybe I can help you guys to take care of her. I know it sounds illogical because I got my own busy schedule but I guess it's worth a try to be her friend. Since our houses are close and I know she's always alone at home, maybe I can be her friend that she'll look for if you two are busy.", that was his answer to Seokjin.

He wants to help her. Not just to take care of her. But, also to help her to get healed from DID. Even if it is impossible to do so.

Now, here he is sitting at the sofa next to her thinking of how to get to know her.

"Do you...", Jungkook says.

"How is...", Chaeyoung speaks up too.

Both of them spoke at the same time and stopped as they realized it.

"You go first.", Jungkook says while Chaeyoung is pointing at him to speak first. "It's...alright. You first.", he repeats.

Chaeyoung nods before she gets ready to talk again, "How is your head?"

She asks him as she remembered how swollen his head last night.

"Oh, it's okay. The swell has turned down. Don't worry.", Jungkook answers with a smile formed on his face.

Then, Chaeyoung nods to him and they become quiet again before Chaeyoung decides to speak up again.

"This is awkward but...I have to ask you this.", she starts carefully. "Are you...aware about me? I mean...how much did you know about me?", she asks him.

Jungkook knows what she meant by her question. She is insecure of his knowledge about her disorder.

"Seokjin hyung said you have DID. But, he didn't elaborate on it much. He just told me that they are extra protective of you because of that. And I misunderstood them.", he answers.

"Okay. So...now...you still want to be my friend even after knowing that I have DID?", she asks as she needs to know how honest he is to be her friend. She does not accept people easily in her life. Seokjin and Jisoo are the only ones she trusts since she left her aunt's house.

"Yes, I still want to be your friend.", Jungkook says as he takes a sip of the lime juice.

"Do you know what DID is?", Chaeyoung questions him more.

He nods and says, "Dissociative Identity Disorder. Like split personality."

"And you still want to know me? A person with more than one personality in one body.", Chaeyoung replies him with that harsh sentence about herself. It sounds like she downgrades herself to him in which he did not like to hear of.

"I've met them and I don't think I should stay away because of them.", he tells her making her to frown at him. He makes her wonder more on why he wants to be her friend. She still feels insecure to accept him as a friend. Her mind tells her not to give him a chance even though Jisoo told her to give him a chance to enter her life.

"Your noona and hyung didn't tell me in detail about those personalities. And I didn't want them to tell me too. I'll let myself to learn about them. So, will you let me be your friend, Chaeyoung? I don't have any bad intentions to you, I swear.", Jungkook says as he raises his right hand like taking an oath to his words.

Chaeyoung smiles looking at him doing the gesture. "It's not that I don't want to be your friend but I'm worried that I'll hurt you in the future. Can you give me time? To think whether I'll accept you as a friend or not.", she asks him.

Jungkook puts down his hand and slowly nods to her.

"Okay..I'll wait for it.", he tells her with a warm smile.
