he's not a threat

After reviewing the final artwork of the poster for the last time, Chaeyoung sends it to her client with a wide smile on her face. She claps happily before raising her hands cheering herself for another job she had finally done working on.

"Congratulations, Chaeyoung. You did well.", she says to herself as she checks the number increasing in her banking account.

"GOALLL!!!", the loud screams from outside makes Chaeyoung startled on her bed.

"What is that?"

The voice in Chaeyoung's head sounds annoyed with the loud noise so she quickly places her hand on her heart to calm herself down.

"Let's see what's going on out there.", Chaeyoung says to herself as she gets up from her bed and walks out to see what was the noise about.

When she stood behind the loveseat sofa at the living room, she looked at the couple who are enjoying their Sunday night watching the TV together.

"Jin oppa, you're too loud.", she makes a sudden remark startling the couple who turn their heads to look at her.

"Oh, Chaeyoung-ah. Come here, let's watch the match with us.", Jisoo invites her to join them to watch the football match that is playing on the TV.

"Unnie, you're too loud too.", Chaeyoung says as she sits on the armless sofa beside the loveseat ones.

Jisoo covers her mouth before she apologizes and asks, "Did we trigger the Voices?"

Chaeyoung nods. The Voices. Mostly Rosé's voice which will be triggered most of the times.

"I'm sorry, Chaeng. Is she there talking in your head now?", Jisoo gets worried so she asks further about Rosé's appearance. Chaeyoung shakes her head before telling that she can control the Voice at the moment.

"Since when your Sunday night become a football match viewing, unnie, oppa?", Chaeyoung goes on to ask about their Sunday night activity since she only knew they watch movies every Sunday night.

Then, Seokjin points at the TV as it is replaying the goal scored earlier. He smiles at Chaeyoung as he says that he is watching Jungkook playing in the match. Chaeyoung, on the other hand, looks at the TV with a blank expression. She looks uninterested with what is showing on the TV.

"You two are watching this because of him?", Chaeyoung asks as she stands up to go to the kitchen.

Jisoo and Seokjin look at each other feeling weird of Chaeyoung's indifferent reaction to the football match that Jungkook is playing in. They thought Chaeyoung would be excited just like them since they are now friends with the footballer. But it seems like they are wrong about it.

"Chaeyoung-ah, that's Jungkook there. You don't feel excited seeing him on the TV screen?", Seokjin asks when Chaeyoung comes back with a glass of water to the living room.

After taking a sip of the glass, Chaeyoung shakes her head earning a pair of widened eyes looking at her.

"Yah, Chaeyoung. Did you argue with him? Did he hurt you?", Jisoo asks as she turns down the volume of the TV.

She focuses on Chaeyoung who frowns at them weirdly. "Jungkook? No, I never argue with him and he never hurt me. Why you suddenly asked me that question, unnie?", Chaeyoung asks in curiosity.

"Really? He never hurt you? You two didn't fight?", Seokjin takes his turn to ask this time.

Chaeyoung frowns even more as she shakes her head, "Why would we fight?"

Seokjin breathes in and out before asking Chaeyoung, "Then, why don't you get excited seeing him on TV?"

The question makes Chaeyoung questioning the two back on why she has to be excited seeing Jungkook on the TV. For her, she only watches the TV when an interesting programme is aired and a football match...is literally not it. She does not like to watch sports.

"Seriously? This is not interesting for you? Hyping your friend who is a famous footballer is not something interesting to you, Chaeyoung?", Seokjin says as he tries to focus on the TV not wanting to miss a single thing from the match between Seoul FC and Incheon United.

"Mmm...I guess because it's a sport. I don't watch sport, oppa. So, yeah. It's not interesting to me.", Chaeyoung replies as she tried to watch the match too.

"Jungkook will be disappointed with you.", Seokjin says as he looks at the tackle made by the opponent's team to one of the Seoul FC's player.

Chaeyoung takes some of the chips from the bowl Jisoo is holding before nodding, "Let him be disappointed. I don't mind."

The two Kims turn their heads to Chaeyoung again. Their eyes are showing as if they are asking why she said like that about Jungkook and she gets it. So, she speaks up before they do, "Honestly speaking, I am still doubting him on why he wants to be my friend. So, I think it's cool if I don't know a thing about his work or anything else related to him. Plus, he doesn't talk with me about his work. So why should I bother about it, right?"

Hearing those words from Chaeyoung, Jisoo sighs at her. "No wonder he said you still quite reserved with him at times.", the elder lady tells Chaeyoung.

"He complains to you?", Chaeyoung asks back making Jisoo quickly shaking her head.

"He doesn't. I'm the one who wants to know because I need to know the progress of your friendship with him.", Jisoo replies before Chaeyoung cuts her off. "You're still worried of him, Chae?", she asks.

"Oww!! Man, that's bad!", Seokjin suddenly shouts making the two ladies flinched on their seats.

Jisoo hits his shoulder until he groans in pain while Chaeyoung just giggles as she watches what happened on the TV.

"Looks like the tackle injured him. This is the second tackle he received today and he looks like he's in pain.", the commentator of the match says. "Yes, he definitely is in pain. Park Jimin, he is going to be switched with Jung Jaehyun. Looks like the coach has a change of tactics now.", the other commentator adds on as Chaeyoung looks at the injured player being carried on a stretcher leaving the field.

"Park Jimin?"

Chaeyoung's eyes widened at the sudden voice talking in her head.

"Chaeyoung?", the finger snap Jisoo did brings Chaeyoung back to focus on the elder. "You okay?", Jisoo asks as she touches Chaeyoung's shoulder to get reassurance that she is alright. Chaeyoung nods a few times as a response. "I was asking you, Chae. Are you still worried of his intention to be your friend?", Jisoo repeats her question.

This time, Chaeyoung nods slowly to Jisoo. She admits that she still has doubt on Jungkook's real intention. But, the other part of her tells her that she should give trust in him.

"Can I...know why you feel that way, Chae?", Jisoo asks as usual before she gives her advice to Chaeyoung.

"I...I'm scared. You know how I am, right? It's just like when I first know you and Jin oppa. I was scared. I took time to get along with you two. I took time to trust you two.", Chaeyoung tries to explain her reason.

Jisoo nods before Seokjin makes another loud noise earning him another hit on his thigh. Chaeyoung is a bit startled but she chuckles at the two people in front of her. Even though sometimes Seokjin's loudness can make her shocked, she still likes to have him around. He is such a good mood maker that she needs alongside Jisoo.

"Jisoo unnie, Jin oppa, I think I'm going to bed first. See you later.", Chaeyoung excuses herself before she walks to her bedroom to get ready to sleep.

After brushing her teeth and washing her face, Chaeyoung turns off the lights and lies down on her bed to sleep. However, her mind is distracted with the Voice of Rosé.

"Hey, Chaeyoung. Can we talk?", the Voice asks.

"Not now, please.", Chaeyoung replies to it as she tried to close her eyes, she really wants to sleep.

"It will not be long. There's something I want to ask.", the Voice keeps speaking to her.

Chaeyoung clicks her tongue in disapproval.

"Just one question.", the Voice still does not give up.

Chaeyoung turns her body to the other side before she speaks up, "One question only." Then, she waits for a few seconds but the Voice does not say anything to her.

"I said..."

"Who is Park Jimin?", the Voice cuts her off with a sudden question that she does not expect to get from it.

Chaeyoung tries to stay calm as she places her hand on her chest. She does not want to remember the past. The question that the Voice asked is about the past. The Voice never asks her anything unless it has to do something with her past. A past that she has buried deep inside her heart when the Voices start to appear in her life.

"Answer me, Chaeyoung. Who is..."

"Can we talk about Jungkook?", Chaeyoung says quickly not wanting to hear the name again. "If you want to talk with me, let's talk about him. Remember that I'm the Host. I still have the right to say what I want with you and Rosie.", she adds.

The Voice in her head sighs. The Host, the one who owns the body and the alter egos who appear as the Voices. Chaeyoung as the Host does have right to say what she wants to Rosé and Rosie. She also can decide to answer questions from them or not when she is the one in the body.

"Okay, then. What about him?", the Voice asks in an uninterested tone.

Chaeyoung sighs in relief knowing that the Voice still obeys her.

"Okay..I just want to ask you. Why you never take over my body when he's with me?", she asks as she recalled that Rosé only appeared that night she met Jungkook for the first time.

A laughter is heard in her head before she gets a reply, "Why do you want me to take over your body?"

The question makes Chaeyoung frowns at the Voice. Does it really not know why or it just pretends to not know? As she remembers, the Voices especially Rosé knows a lot about her feelings. So, it should know how she feels about Jungkook.

"I know you're doubting his intention to be your friend. But that doesn't mean I need to come out and surprise him. What do you want me to do if I am the one meeting him, huh?", the Voice actually knows how she feels about Jungkook.

"Well, I don't trust him. Shouldn't you be helping me out to get rid of him?", Chaeyoung says to the Voice but it looks like she is talking to herself and if anyone sees it, they will call her a crazy person.

Again, the Voice of Rosé laughs at her. Her ears feel like they are being pricked with the sinister laugh of Rosé.

"Stop annoy me with your laugh, Rosé.", Chaeyoung warns it.

"I'm sorry but seriously, get rid of him? He's not a threat to you, Chaeyoung.", the reply Chaeyoung received was not like what she expected of Rosé.

She hits her head on purpose before saying, "Are you serious, Rosé? He's not a threat? He is to me. I have doubt on him, okay?"

"You're just doubting him. You should give him some more time, Chaeyoung. You'll get used to him like you're used to Jin and Jisoo.", the Voice tells Chaeyoung. "I know I'm not someone you can seek for advice, Chaeyoung. But, just this once. Listen to me. He just wants to be your friend. He is not an enemy. And I am not going to appear just because of your doubt. Remember that.", it adds before Chaeyoung feels a complete silent for a while.

She sighs at herself thinking of Rosé's words. That alter ego is right. She cannot appear because of her doubt only. She only comes when she is in danger, panicked or threatened. There is no way she will appear when she is doubting someone.
