Adley's POV
When I get up I feel a little better but I'm still out of it. I get ready for training day. Once I get to the institute and grab all my gear. I see my parents at the planning table and I meet them there."Hey honey, you ready?" Dad asks me "Yeah, more than ready" I assure them
"Alright, let's start off with learning to protect yourself." Dad suggests and we go to the area and dad grabs everything while I grab my weapon of choice. I always choose the sword but I think I'm going to go with my personalized blade this time. I grab it and it instantly connects to me. It feels tight against my body but in the most comfortable way ever. The blade is apart of me.
"Good choice" Dad compliments me and we get started. I start with lightly moving it around up and down, side to side. Than after twenty minutes of that I get into the real thing. Dad offers to practice with me so he comes up right in front of me.
"Ready?" Dad checks with me "Ready" I reply confidently. He starts by trying to hook my blade from the bottom but I am able to back away quick enough. I hit his tip of his sword and he almost drops it. Dad looks at me proud.
"Nice, keep going" We continue and he tries to hit the seal of my blade but I am able to hit his instead. Dad almost drops it but he's quick enough to latch onto it. We go a bit faster and I'm getting flashbacks of training with him when I was little, eight to be exact. Dad's been my best teacher, so has mom. They have helped me become the person I am today. I am very proud of that person.
Dad tries to grab my arm to trick me and distract me but I am quick enough to turn my body on the side.
It's been three hours of training and we decide to stop.
"That's my girl" Dad says proudly and he puts his arm around me and kisses my forehead. Than I see my best friend, Josh, coming in and I sneak up behind him and scare him. He jumps like crazy, Josh is a mundane, so all of this can get to him sometimes. He also has a huge crush on me but I only see him as my best friend.
"Hey Adley, do you have time to grab a bite to eat? I'm starving and wanted company." Josh asks me
"Go ahead Adley, you deserve a break." Dad tells me and I go up to dad and hug him tight. When you live in the kind of world my family does, you never know what could happen next. You never know when it's going to be the last time you see each other.
"Love you, thank you for today dad. It was really fun and just what I needed." I thank him and he smiles
"No problem, I'm really glad it helped you. Now go have fun. Also love you too" Dad says back and I smile. I go back to Josh and we get to Java Jones, as always. I haven't told Josh about my nightmares because I try and keep him out of my world as best as I can. I feel like I should tell him, I don't know though.
Will Adley tell Josh, her best friend about her dream? Or will it stay a secret? ❤️
