Josh's POV
I made a decision to being a vampire. Simon has been helping me these past few weeks and it's not easy but he's a good teacher.
I'm not too thrilled on Adley dating Caspian. I mean he did help out Octavius, who knows if we can really trust him. I'm surprised her family does, well except her dad's not to thrilled about them dating either. Whenever I'm with Adley and Caspian together he always texts me making sure everything is ok with them. He's always been protective of her, I just hope he doesn't know about my crush on her. Does he? If he did I would be dead already. I think I'm safe, right?
I'm meeting Adley and Caspian here at 'Java Junction' and I just hope they don't act too coupley in front of me. That they're not to PDA, if they are I will smack the hell out of Caspian. When I hear the bell ring on the door of 'Java Junction' I look up and it's Adley and Caspian holding hands. Great, off too a great start. I stand up when they see me and Adley and I hug and Caspian and I awkwardly shake hands.
"I don't think we've formerly met sorry. I know we have met but not properly is what I'm trying to say. Anyways, hm, I'm Josh, Adley's best friend since forever and if you hurt her, I will hurt you." I warn him and he just smiles and nods and shakes my hand.
"Adley did tell me that you were protective of her. Ok, if we're really doing it like this. I'm Caspian, Adley's boyfriend who will protect her at all costs and always try my best to make her happy." Caspian promises and he better keep it or else I'm going to have a word with him. We sit down and they sit side by side and I'm in front of them.
"So, do her parents like you because family means everything to her?" I ask him and Adley rolls her eyes.
"Her mom does but her dad is iffy about me still. Which is ok because a daughter's father should always watch out for the people she dates." Caspian says correctly
"That's right, I totally agree and best friends should do the same. So I'll be watching you too." I assure him and Adley kicks my ankle hard and it really hurt enough for me to say. "Ouch!" Caspian looks down and the waitress comes over and we order our food and drinks.
"So what's it like dating a shadowhunter?" I ask him and Adley sighs.
"It's fun because I'm one too. It would be much more complicated to date someone who isn't a shadowhunter." Caspian mentions
"True true" I agree and Adley gets a call.
"Sorry it's my dad" Adley apologizes and gets up and she walks over to me and whispers. "Be nice to him while I'm gone. If you're an ass to him I will kill you." Adley jokes with me and I just look at her and smile. She walks outside and takes the call.
"So what are your intentions with my best friend?" I ask him and he looks at me with an eyebrow raised.
Adley's POV
I quickly answer dad's call and I already know what this is about. He knows I'm here with Caspian.
"Honey thank goodness you answered quickly. Are you ok? Caspian didn't hurt you right?" Dad asks me in a panic and I can hear mom say in the back.
"Jace she's fine! Caspian will keep her safe and so will Josh." Thank you mom
"I just heard that, what mom said and that's exactly what I was thinking. Dad please just try and trust him, for me please?" I ask him, practically beg him.
"Sorry but you're my baby girl so I can't just let you out into the world with a guy who is very attracted to you. I just can't handle it. Plus I wouldn't be your dad if I didn't do this, right?" Dad reminds me and I sigh but I still love him like crazy so I just roll with it.
"Right, dad I love you so much but I really gotta get back to Josh and Caspian." I try and end the call.
"Alright alright, I love you Ad's. Be safe" Dad tells me
"I love you too and I will. Bye" I try again
"Bye sweetie" He ends it finally and hangs up but just as I'm about to walk back to the table uncle Alec calls me.
"You've got to be kidding me." I say to myself and quickly answer. "This better be good uncle Alec." I warn him
"Are you ok? Please tell me you're ok." Uncle Alec freaks in panic. I sigh before saying anything.
"Yes I'm fine and dad just called me. I promise you I'm safe uncle Alec." I assure him and he sighs too.
"Alright but if he does anything to you imma kill him. I'll let you go, love you." Uncle Alec finally says
"Love you too, bye" I end it and we hang up and I wait for someone else to call me and I'm good. So I go back to the boys and when I sit down I sigh.
"Everything ok?" Caspian asks me
"Just my family being protective of me that's all." I inform him and he puts his arm around me but Josh kicks his ankle and I give him a death stare. I can never be alone can I?
She really can't, can she? Well she knows that Adley has people who will protect her always and always be there for her. ❤️
