The remaining minutes of class were agony for Marinette. She stared at the clock until she went cross-eyed. Several Parisian weather channels were announcing the possibility of a meteor shower tonight, and because of the special occasion, Alya had easily swayed Marinette into agreeing to confess her love to Adrien during the phenomena.

Neither excitement nor anxiety could describe precisely what Marinette was feeling when she stared at the hair of the blonde boy sitting in front of her. She was going to confess tonight. The mere thought was enough to make her want to back out immediately, but she had promised herself she would tell him.

Marinette shifted to look at the clock in the room, watching its hand tick down until the bell would ring.

Click. Eight. I don't even know if I want to get out.

Click. Seven. Well, maybe I can just get it over with.

Click. Six. Even if he does not like me, it will be okay.

Click. Five. Wait, what if he doesn't like me?

Click. Four. No, I said I was going to confess.

Click. Three. Is Adrien turning around?

Click. Two. Must be my imagination.

Click. One. No, definitely not my imagination.

Ring!

The bell rang caused an immediate relief to overcome the students, but Marinette could not have bothered to notice when he was looking straight at her. She fought an urge to close her jacket protectively; his stare made her feel transparent.

Nino was the first to speak. "Hey, Marinette and Alya. Adrien and I wanted to go get dinner and watch the meteor shower tonight. Do you both want to tag along?"

Before Alya could open her mouth, Marinette quickly agreed. "Of course! We'd love to come!" Her enthusiasm caught Nino off guard and invoked a sigh from Alya, but she received a smile from Adrien, and that was enough for her.

"Okay, so 8:00pm for dinner?" Adrien asked, and when he received three nods, he continued. "Then we can see the meteor shower at 10:00pm on the outside of the city?"

Another wave of unanimous nods caused the boy to smile. Suddenly, Marinette remembered Adrien's father. "Is your dad okay with you being out that late?"

Adrien's smile fell slightly, but only Marinette seemed to notice. Her stomach twisted unnaturally, and she wished she had not asked. However, the shift in the boy's mood did not linger when he exclaimed. "I'll figure it out. Don't worry," he replied with a wink.

After hours of Marinette and Alya arguing about what they were wearing to the meteor shower, they were finally on their way to the diner the group had agreed on. Even after everything else had happened, Marinette still could not close her eyes without imagining Adrien's earlier wink. She was still embarrassed by how flustered she could get by the simplest actions.

"Marinette, you good, girl?" Alya interrupted Marinette's thoughts. "Your face is bright red."

Marinette instinctively touched her face, and Alya was right; her face was burning. "Oh no, how am I going to confess if I can't even stop blushing?" She screeched, throwing her hands up in frustration. Several bystanders turned to and looked at Marinette as if she had two heads.

"Sorry about that," Alya said sheepishly to the strangers staring and faced Marinette. "Hey, hey, you got this. Everything is going to work out for the best. Even if Adrien does not like you, he is just missing out. You have never needed a guy before, so what makes you think you need one now?"
