"It's over, Hawkmoth!" Ladybug declared landing a foot in front of the villain, who was already desperately crawling away from her. "Your reign of terror is over!"

Hawkmoth knew he would reach the end of his panel in his lair and would be caught, but he continued nonetheless. "Please, Ladybug, you wouldn't hurt a poor man, would you?"

"You wouldn't hurt a little girl, would you?" She replied, as Chat Noir landed behind her.

"Please! I never wanted it to end like this."

Chat Noir scoffed bitterly. "Neither did we."

Now, the superhero duo was standing in front of Hawkmoth. He was shaking in fear, scrapping his nails against the metal of the panels beneath him as he tried to regain his composure. How far he has fallen.

"Dark wings fall," Hawkmoth muttered, clutching his side in a vain attempt to suppress the pain. One of his ribs was most likely broken from a harsh fall he had taken earlier.

When Hawkmoth was replaced by Gabriel Agreste, Chat Noir stood motionless. He already knew previously his father was Hawkmoth, but seeing him transform and be in extreme pain was a feeling he was not ready for.

Ladybug rested a hand on his shoulder in an effort to comfort him. He simply blinked his teary eyes away and regained his cold, robotic aura.

The heroine turned away from him and looked down at Gabriel Agreste.

This was the moment.

The moment Ladybug and Chat Noir had been waiting for.

Hawkmoth now sat in front of them, defenseless and in his civilian form. He was powerless before them. They had fought many difficult battles and villains to have a chance of this.

So why couldn't they end it?

How could they look at this man after all he had done and still feel empathy for him?

"Mr. Agreste, how could you?"

The man sighed heavily. "I felt as if there was no other option. I knew your miraculouses could bring back Emelie."

Ladybug and Chat Noir looked down at the ground, trying to form their thoughts into words.

"It seems there was one person you could not save, Ladybug," Gabriel hissed before falling into a coughing fit.

No, that could not be true.

He was a villain. He didn't need to be saved.

He was still human though. Everybody needs heroes, even the villains.

"Congratulations, I never actually thought you would defeat me. You both were just kids, but now you two are heroes like you always wanted." Gabriel looked up from the ground and stared directly into Ladybug's eyes, sending a startled shiver down her spine. "Or are you?"
