Told her that I loved her
Was not sure if she heard
The roof was pretty windy
And she didn't say a word

-One Direction, "End Of The Day"

A peaceful silence coated Paris on a windy night. The moon illuminated the Eiffel tower in a glowing shimmer that casted shadows on the surrounding buildings.

Chat Noir and Ladybug had finished their patrol but decided to enjoy the scenery and cool weather. Seated beside each other, they watched the moon slowly move across the sky.

However, Chat Noir could not focus on what was in front of him but rather what was beside him. He admired his partner's features. Her hair, styled in pigtails as usual, was being brushed out of her face by the wind coming towards them. Her prominent blue eyes seemed to reflect the moon itself.

Maybe it was the atmosphere. Maybe it was the peaceful silence.

But Chat Noir knew he wanted to confess.

Right then.

"Ladybug," the boy said, suddenly shy. He waited for his partner to turn to him to acknowledge she had heard him, but she didn't.

Despite this, Chat Noir continued. Come on, you got this! He told himself. You're just confessing to the person who you've liked for what seems like forever, and if she doesn't like you back, it may ruin your friendship. He involuntarily swallowed a lump that was building up in his throat.

"Ladybug," he repeated, staring down at his feet. "I need to tell you something."

"I know this sounds strange, but I can't stop thinking about you. Every time you're around I can't help but smile. You always seem to know the right thing to do or say. You're just amazing, and I don't want to jeopardize our friendship, but I need to say this."

He did not dare look up.

"I love you."

The weight of the world seemed to be relieved from Chat Noir's shoulders, as the three words left his mouth. He built up the courage to look over at Ladybug again, but she was still looking up at the moon as she had been before.

What?

A gust of wind blew harshly against his face, and then realization hit him.

She didn't hear anything I just said.

The roof was too windy.

The rapid gusts of air drowned out all sound.

Chat Noir examined Ladybug's expression. She was still calmly watching the moon without a care in the world, utterly oblivious to her partner who had just spilled out all of his feelings for her.

The black cat could have been frustrated, but when he studied Ladybug's features, he could not help but still feel joy. He was content with their relationship for now, and perhaps his heartfelt confession should be proclaimed later.

I love you, Ladybug. So much that I'm going to wait for you.

With that final thought lingering in his mind, Chat Noir finally removed his gaze from the girl beside him and turned to the moon. It was beautiful before, but now it seemed to glow in a special way.

Chat Noir was satisfied with the night.

Me, her, and the moon.
