Marinette's P.O.V.

My body was shivering, as I forced myself off the ground. My clothes were soaked from the snow, and my face was soaked from tears. I had not seen myself in a mirror, but I knew my eyes were puffy and my face was colored in a shade of rosy red.

I lost him.

I am not a hero.

I can't even save my own partner.

I shook from the sobs I was trying to suppress in vain. I heard cracking I still believe was the sound of my breaking heart, but the only logical explanation I could deduce was from the rustling background noise of fireworks.

I stumbled for a moment but caught myself. It was like shifting in and out of sleep the entire way home. I still can't fully remember everything that happened after I saw those green eyes. His green eyes.

"Come on, Marinette! Way up!"

I felt something hit my face, and I shot up out of my bed. My eyes adjusted, and then everything came into view. "Alya?" I grumbled, as the silhouette of my best friend slowly appeared in front of me. She was holding a white feather pillow which was most likely what she hit me with.

So was it all a dream?

I looked over my best friend's shoulder at the pole of soaking wet clothes I had worn last night.

No, it wasn't.

I did lose him.

"Marinette?" She replied back, imitating my hoarse tone. I sighed, rubbing my eyes. She could never be an impersonator.

"Ugh!" I groaned, flopping back into bed. I was sore, and every bone in my body was begging for rest. "I want to sleep!"

"Girl!" Alya said, obviously not going to give in anytime soon. She plopped down on top of my bed with one leg underneath her. My mattress bounded in response to the sudden weight. "You said you would get up and have breakfast with me!"

"I never said that!" My voice muffled from talking into my pillow I had pressed my face against.

"Marinette!" Alya whined impatiently.

I forced myself up quickly and my feet hit the floor with a loud thud. "Fine!" I huffed before going over to my closet.

When I looked over at Alya still sitting on my bed while choosing what to wear, I could not help but notice her triumphant, childish grin. I sighed heavily after I had changed clothes and put on my bunny slippers.

"Let's go!" Alya said happily, grabbing my head and dragging me forcefully down the stairs to our living room.

"Why are you so happy-"

My voice cut off.

What is going on?

Roses decorated the entire breakfast area. Scattered petals littered the floor. My eyes were overwhelmed from all of the colors like red, pink, and white. There must have been hundreds of roses. I could not even see the marble counters underneath them.

"What is going on, Alya?" Finally voicing my thoughts aloud, I turned around to my best friend.

But she wasn't there.

Not only was it not her but it was the last person I expected to see.

Him.

Adrien Agreste.

In all his glory of blonde hair and electric green eyes.

I was frozen. My knees were weak. I felt like I was a stagnant ship sinking in the middle of the ocean.

When I finally regained control of my body, I lurched forward, scrabbling to reach him. I instinctively threw my arms around him and let out a genuine laugh.

I forgot how long it had been since I had laughed until that moment.

Everything that had happened. All of the hard times of not knowing who I was or what to do, my only thought had been him. I thought he was gone. Now he was standing here right in front of me, and I could do nothing but laugh.

He gave a light chuckle, as I fell into his embrace. "Did you miss me?"

In just three words, I was able to release all of the emotions I had felt without him.

"All the time."
