Chapter Six - Collin
"Can I?"
The question stunned Baby, she blinked rapidly and curled her fingers into her skirt.
♥️ Oh honey I adore
How you see mе, I see you
Across the corridor
Tight jeans baby blue
Oh honеy I adore you ♥️Frightened by the blaring sound of her cellphone, Baby fumbled and pulled the device from her skirt pocket, sitting up in the passenger seat and disregarding a peeping Percy,
He saw the name 'Collin' flash across her screen and felt something akin to panic spread in his chest as she answered the call in a chirpy voice,
"Hey Collin." Baby listened intently as Collin chastised her over the phone, his voice deep and angry,
Her pouty lips pulled into a frown, "I wasn't bunking class without you, I wasn't planning on being late though, I'll tell you about that, not now- okay, can we talk about this later?" Her face brightened when Collin mentioned his mother's cookies, "Cookiesssss, yay, can we stop at my house to pick up my favorite sweater?"
She felt Percy distance himself and sighed out in relief before reassuring Collin, "I'll see you in bit. So excited, love you." She ended the call with a 'mwah' and stuffed her phone back in her pocket.
Percy reclined in his seat and watched her face carefully, "Who was that?"
Baby smiled, "My best friend Collin, we're getting cookies after school."
He hummed softly, "Cookies, yum." His voice held a sarcastic bite to it, without thinking, he added, "You should leave now. Collin is probably waiting for you... There's still fifteen minutes left before your last class."
Taken aback by Percy's sudden cold demeanor, Baby nodded slowly, "Do you want to walk to class with me?" She tried, her eyes hopeful,
Percy shook his head, "No thanks, go ahead." He gestured to the door.
She frowned but exited the car with a soft goodbye.
♥️
Baby hadn't paid attention in her last class at all.
She wondered what could have made Percy so distasteful suddenly, and why he'd been so cold towards her right after asking for a kiss.
Despite her constant nervousness and hesitancy around the boy, she thought he was actually nicer than she thought before they met.
He opened every door for her, and he held her hand, he asked alot of questions, and her childish answers didn't seem to bother him.
That was nice enough in her opinion.
But Collin certainly didn't agree, "You, Percy, ice-cream? That's why you missed class?"
Baby shut her locker and slung her backpack over one shoulder,
All the while frowning at her shoes, head still mulling over everything that happened during the school day, "His nice." She mumbled.
Collin raised a brow at her, "That's because you only spoke to him for a couple of hours."
He didn't like the prospect of Baby getting involved with a boy like Percy,
"You don't know him." Baby retaliated, feeling a little defensive about Percy.
"Neither do you." Collin replied with a smile, knowing that Baby felt cornered, "So listen to me Martin's, do not engage." He pinched one of her chubby cheeks, laughing when she whined.
"Okay. I'll stay away."
