Chapter Nine - Sleepless

Ever since Percy could remember, Baby had always been the only girl on his mind, the only girl he would fantasize about.

He remembered the first time he'd seen her, at ten he was already a very observant boy, and he'd been living in his house for about a year when Baby and her mother showed up one day.

Baby bounced around on the porch in a pretty floral dress, a matching headband in her hair, and Percy watched her every day since then because she would do the most peculiar things,

Like sing every action when she went into her backyard,

'Throwing out the trashhh, cringing at the smellll, gotta wash my handsss, cause there's gunk on em!'

It kept him entertained, and he'd admit that sometimes he wondered if she was okay mentally, but he pegged it on her very... Ironic personality.

Baby was basically a baby. She did whatever made her happy.

By the time he'd turned fourteen, after a very informative lesson in health class, he realized his feelings for Baby were both developing hormones, and a crush.

When the feelings hadn't faded as he thought they would, the little jolting ache in his chest whenever he saw her?

He resorted to his own methods. Other girls.

They kept the ache at bay, and kept him busy. But no one compared to Baby,

He wanted her. And now he would do anything to get her.

It was 11PM already and Percy couldn't fall asleep, he tossed around in bed and cringed when the sorry excuse of a bed squeaked underneath his weight.

But then again, he couldn't exactly blame the bed for his big built body.

Percy wasn't unaccustomed to sleepless nights like these, his head was always someplace, worrying about something.

Tonight it was Baby on the agenda, how much he loved her, and how desperate he was for her trust and love in return.

The only problem was how.

Percy wasn't the most eloquent or charming boy, and he knew that. In fact, he was reminded of this by every student that sent cautious looks his way when he passed them in the hallways at school.

His reputation was mostly his fault, as he had a quick temper, but his reputation was also the fault of every idiot that pissed him off.

Speaking to Baby was a daring experience for him, he tried his best to be as gentle as possible but her personality was impossibly frustrating for the boy.

Lost in his thoughts, he hadn't realised that the clock had struck midnight.
