Confessions Pt. 2
_________
Colin felt like a little spec of dust in his best friends (and unrequited love) life. She was drifting away from him and he couldn't do anything about it. That's exactly how Brielle had felt for years.
Karma was a b-witch. A real witch.
But as much as Brielle would have felt like the luckiest girl alive at that moment, she couldn't. Because Colin was miserable, and that made her miserable. They were spending a lot of time together since Baby was M.I.A with Percy and rumors of a blooming relationship between the schools star basketball player and the golden girl were making their rounds around the school.
It was in Brielle's nature to care more for others than she cared for herself. So it was a given that when Colin started ranting to her at lunch, she listened intently and then gave her input.
"Maybe, you should talk to her about how you're feeling?" She suggested.
Colin huffed, stuffing a bite of lasagne into his mouth.
After he chewed the food, he took a sip of water and sighed, "What difference will it make if she's already completely infatuated with Percy?”
Brielle looked at her own turkey club sandwich and let out a breath, “It will make you feel better. The pain in your chest will go away and you won't feel like sighing when you look at her... You'll feel free.”
The boy paused for a moment and looked at the redheaded girl with a frown, "Why does it sound like you know exactly how that feels?”
She shook her head, “I don't... I just imagine that's how it feels finally letting go of someone.”

“Cal! Get out of my stuff!”
A loud sound of a closet door shutting echoed through the Hardy household followed by a manly scream and a girl's admonishing voice.
Downstairs, Violet Hardy looked at her husband and mouthed 'Yikes' before she handed him a cup of coffee.
“Brielle's been really on edge lately huh?” Graham Hardy asked.
Violet nodded solemnly, “She's been spending a lot of time with the Norwell kid.”
A confused sound left the middle-aged man, “Isn't that a good thing?”
His wife rolled her eyes and explained, "Not when his as clueless as his dad was with Andrea and Brielle feels so strongly about him. She's hurting honey.”
Graham let out a 'ah' although he didn't really get it. Nonetheless he called his kids downstairs to join in for breakfast and made sure to give Brielle an extra long hug and a kiss on the forehead before she left for school.

A hand appeared in front of her before she could open her locker and she turned to say hi to Colin but jerked back when he leaned in close.
“Uh, good morning.”
Colin hummed, "Morning...” He leaned on her locker, his arm next to hers and his eyes looking ahead, “About what you said yesterday, I think you're right.”
Brielle was in a daze, “... Right? OK...”
He let out a snort, “Are you listening? I'm going to confess to Baby and then, whatever happens... That's that.”
"Oh.” She muttered.
She should have felt elated... Colin would confess and Baby would reject him. Then she'd at least have a chance.
But all Brielle could think about was how Colin was brave enough to do something she couldn't for thirteen years. Something she wasn't sure she'd ever do.
Tell Colin Norwell that she loved him.
