“Are you comfortable?” Percy asked.
He stood in the doorway of the guest room, watching Baby fluff pillows as she snuggled into the bed.
The girl peeked at him and smiled, “I am, thank you.”
She felt warm and safe in one of Percy's t-shirts. Her very own makeshift night-dress. It smelled like laundry detergent and Percy's cologne.
“So...” He kicked the door lightly with his foot, “Why were you crying earlier?”
Her lips tugged downward in a frown, just thinking about how her mother arrived home made her upset.
“My mom came home.” She mumbled, trusting Percy with her feelings about her mom would be hard but sharing what really went on inside her home would be the first step. So Baby continued, “She was drunk and I just wanted to talk. She won't talk to me. Ever.”
Percy's expression changed drastically, “Did she hurt you?”
Baby was quick to sit upright in bed, "No, she didn't. Not physically.”
Jenna Martin's never laid a hand on Baby, not a threatening one, and not a motherly one.
Seeing how distraught Percy looked for her sake, she smiled to reassure him, “I'm fine. Really.”
Percy still looked worried but nodded anyway.
“Cuddles?”
He couldn't deny her.

He stared down at her fluttering lashes as she spoke to him about random things she liked. Somehow, he managed to steer their conversation and her mood in a better direction than any incidents involving her mother.
Percy hated seeing Baby miserable, he wanted her to be happy, because she deserved happiness. He would do anything to keep her happy.
“Your dad is so nice, that's probably why you're so nice.” She wondered aloud.
The boy smiled, “You used to be scared of me if I remember correctly.”
Baby pursed her lips, shifting in his arms to look up at him, “Well I have an excuse for that mister.”
Quirking an eyebrow, he urged her to explain.
“... People said you were scary and you always stared, and I thought you were angry a loooot of the time. Not to mention the fact that you used to hit people!”
Percy let out a laugh, “You've got a point, but I was angry that you never gave me the time of day. The people I beat up were actually rude to me first and the rumors about me being a bully were over saturated.”
“If you bothered to talk to me first, you and I would've been a long way into this relationship a long time ago.” He winked at her playfully.
The girl in his arms pouted in embarrassment, “It was hard to even look your way... Have you seen yourself? You're really tall and your face is way too nice.” She huffed.
He grinned childishly and hummed, “You were crushing.”
Baby hid her face in his chest, “I was not.” She whined.
Percy chuckled and thread his fingers through the strands of her hair, shifting her even closer to himself. He melted into her curves and the scent of her hair.
