- so. I may have been sick and also really exhausted... But yay, I'm better so I'll do my best to update in another sprint -

SOMETIMES love felt like fiction to Collin. When he was a child, he figured his parents had settled since they never behaved the way couples did on TV. And when he was older, he learned that love was always changing; something he didn't really like much. He learned that there were more types of love than he could experience in a lifetime and that scared him. Then he fell in love with Brielle and realised he hadn't seen it coming.

Everything had just suddenly became all about her. His entire life rearranged to fit her, and he was all too overjoyed that it did. But he found that he couldn't pinpoint when exactly it had happened.

And when he asked Percy if he knew when he had fallen in love with Baby, it baffled him to find that Percy could state the place and time and the color of Baby's dress the day he fell for her. All while, the more Collin stared at Brielle, the more unfathomable it was that his heart raced and his lungs could barely keep up with him.

“We're together right?” He heard himself ask.

Brielle's brows rose, “I suppose we are, I'd hope so.” She busied her hands with preparing the vegetables for a dish she was about to start cooking for them.

His eyes scanned her face, each feature familiar but new and refreshing to him. “I can't believe it.”

A confused sound left Brielle and she paused her chopping motions to look at Collin, "Believe what?"

Apprehension pooled into his stomach and he looked away but spoke anyway, “That you're with me. And you have feelings for me.”

♥️

Brielle threw her pride to the wind and sighed, knowing that she was about to be vulnerable and that Collin would either feel guilty for never knowing or it would sour their developing relationship because Brielle would distance herself for the sake of her ego.

“Collin. I've loved you for years,” She took a deep breath and stared at the chopped carrots like it would eleviate the tension in her chest, “Since high-school, maybe before? I pined after you and, I honestly didn't mind. It didn't bother me that you never noticed because I genuinely love you so much that all that matters to me is that you're happy. And you're just you, oblivious, silly Collin.

When we started living together, I saw new sides of you and still loved you. Then it hit me one day when I was watching Percy and Baby that I wanted what they have... And that maybe I wouldn't have that with you. So I started letting go of you. Then you kissed me at the club that night and I just got so angry, because why now? Why would you want me after all this time?

But now that we're, something... I get it. It feels surreal.”

Silence ensconced the pair, Brielle didn't want to look at Collin. She had just poured her heart out for the first time ever, and her eyes were welling up with tears and she was out of breath.

She hadn't heard him get up from his seat before she felt his arms around her, his warmth engulfing her.

“Thank you,” He breathed out, “For waiting so long for my silly ass to catch up to you.”

Brielle let her tears fall.
