- can't promise this is great, I tried... Also, don't skip the note at the end. -

AFTER a few busy weeks, Baby and Percy had finally agreed on a day in the week that would be exclusively theirs. Thursdays. It was the only day they had in common, between Percy's work hours and Baby's classes and part-time job.

The pair showed up at their favorite bar at the exact same time. Greeting each other with a kiss.

“I hate everyone at work.” Percy confessed bluntly as he took a sip from his beer. His blonde hair was let down and he had traded out his work clothes for a hoodie and jeans.

Baby laughed lightly, “Even Noah?” She picked at her food leisurely, not very hungry.

“I hate him when we're not at home. It's like his personality changes completely, it's ridiculous.”

So their night proceeded, Percy spoke freely and animatedly about day to day things. Baby contributed half-heartedly, the girls mind clearly not present.

The man had noticed the minute they sat down and silently made a mental note to ask her why she was so down later.

A waitress took their third order of random dishes and drinks, then left.

An unfinished plate of fries was pushed to the side and Baby didn't spare it a glance as she spoke, “I really want to go on a roadtrip someday soon.”

Tilting his head curiously, he mused, “I suppose we could do that, depends on how long you're thinking of.”

Mildly, Baby laughed softly and shrugged, “Forever?”

But there was something too serious in her eyes for Percy not to notice. She seemed so far off and vacant.

He reached for her hand across the table, “What's wrong?”

She snapped out her daze as if startled by the question, her usual cheery look back on her face.

“Nothing. Nothing at all, I guess I just need a vacation. But so does everyone.”

He silently agreed. Yet his worry for her never subsided.

♥️

Without mentioning it to Baby, Percy took a completely different road than the one that led to her apartment. It was getting late and they both had work the next day, but Percy wanted to try his best to cheer his girlfriend up. Or at least clear the air about whatever was bothering her.

She was distractedly choosing songs to play during the car ride and only noticed that she wasn't heading directly home when Percy spoke up.

“Can you check the glove compartment for my old set of keys to the greenhouse?”

Baby frowned, "The greenhouse?” She opened the glove compartment anyway and found the keys. Pulling them out and handing them to Percy.

“Are we headed there?” Baby asked when she took a look outside the car window. They were nowhere near her apartment building.

Percy hummed, “Just thought it would be nice to relive a good memory. Don't you agree?”

♥️

Like the first time she was there, Baby was awed by the beauty of it all. The details of the entire structure and all the care put into taking care of the flora inhabitants of it.

Percy was still in awe of how beautiful Baby was even between the flowers.

“Dad still comes here every week, I think he hired someone for the times he isn't able to come though.”

Baby looked around, “That's good, would hate to see all this go to waste.” She had an almost undetectable frown on her face.

Percy moved away from her and inspected the hydrangeas, he didn't look at her when he asked, “Are you really fine or do you not want to talk about it?”

Heavy silence filled the room and all Percy heard from the girl was her footsteps moving around.

When she finally spoke, it was barely loud enough but he heard her nonetheless, “I just, I think about you leaving me eventually and that's scary.”

Then she went quiet again.

Her footsteps got closer and her arms wrapped around his waist tightly, “But that's all in my head. So don't worry about it okay?”

He put his hands on hers, “Will you tell me why you think I'll leave you?”

She clutched him tighter, “It doesn't matter.”

authors note: nothing too hectic to say, just sorry that I update randomly and not regularly.

Also. Like the title of the chapter says, despite my own bad habit of treating myself like the enemy. I hope you all are gentle with yourselves, speak kind words to yourselves and just let your entire being operate in peace.

It's a real tough process, but I believe in us! ♥️
