Chapter Twelve - Alone Time Pt. 2
'The cubs won't survive in these conditions.'
Percy sank into the cushions of the couch with a bored sigh. He was just about ready to end it all after two whole hours of National Geographic playing and Baby focusing solely on that.
'The lioness will either have to leave the pride or lose her cubs.'
Baby let out a gasp as she visibly tensed in her seat and watched with baited breath the animal documentary playing out.
Percy glanced at the girl and found himself staring at her unblinking eyes and flushed cheeks. She was intensely invested in the show and it made him feel better about having to stew in boredom.
The pair were both settled on the long couch in Percy's living room, on opposite ends. Percy wanted to sit closer to Baby initially, but decided against that when he considered the fact that he would never be able to keep his hands to himself.
"Can we watch something else?"
The spaced out boy snapped to his senses with a questioning frown on his face, "Why? Don't you like..." He peeked at the television, "Lion's brawling?..."
Baby huffed, "It's making me sad."
Percy immediately felt his heart pound and he blurted the first thing that came to mind to make the girl feel better, "Hug?" His face flushed and he averted his eyes.
'What the hell was that!?' He thought to himself.
"Yes please." Her soft voice interrupted his thoughts.
Percy nodded, flustered but willing. More than willing. He opened his arms and gestured her over with his eyes.
The petite girl crawled across the couch and wrapped her arms around Percy's shoulders. His response was putting his hands on her back and rubbing gently.
He took a deep breath and with it, he basked in her scent. A mix of fruit and unidentified blossoms.
She snuggled into his warmth and the boy cheered mentally. His hugs must have been decent if she was holding on so tight.
When the pair pulled apart, Baby gave Percy a gleaming smile.
"Thank you Percy."
Percy grinned back and tried to play it cool, "It's... What friends do, right?"
