"THE guest room is down the hall

"THE guest room is down the hall. Here's some blankets and a new bathrobe for tomorrow morning." Brielle pushed all the things into Collins arms, gesturing to the end of the hallway as she tried to make a breakaway.

His hand clasped around her own and pulled, "It's been too long Bri. Come on." He muttered.

Pretending she had no idea what he meant felt like second nature as she pulled free and backed away from him. Seeing the frustration line his forehead as he frowned at her in the dim lighting of the hallway. His blue eyes were dark in this lighting, something Brielle always prefered to the usual striking nature of his eyes. Like he could see through her.

With sternness she said, "Goodnight Collin." The finality in her voice was what made Collin turn away spitefully without saying anything in return.

♥️

Tension lined his shoulders as he rolled over on the soft mattress of the bed he'd been given for the next two weeks. Collin grit his teeth in anger when counting sheep did nothing but clear his mind to make room for more thoughts of Brielle.

Her hair, her eyes, her voice; the smile he hadn't received from her in so long.

"Fuck," He whispered aggressively into the night. "Fuck this."

Before he could think twice, he had opened his bedroom door and sauntered all the way to Brielle's room. The light oak door of her childhood bedroom looking small in comparison to his towering body, shoulders tense and squared in seething anger.

He hadn't thought anything through, hadn't left time for anxiety to make him change his mind when he knocked on her door impatiently.

When the insistent sound of his knocking stopped, there was the sound of footsteps on the other side of the door and an irritated Brielle flung the door open. Her sharp eyes drooped with sleepiness and her lips pursed.

"What." She snapped.

Colin stared her down, "I'm sick of this."

Then before she could speak, he swooped down and kissed her. The sudden impact made her stumble backwards and then his hands were there to catch her, moving them both into her room.

Something about the way he held her close and completely took charge didn't resemble Collin at all. As if he had let some other part of himself take the reigns for once. The part of himself that was tired of letting what he wanted slip through his fingers.

♥️

Brielle felt herself give in when Collin traced her bottom lip with his tongue, his hands had changed direction completely to grab her thighs and lift her up against him. She gave into that too, jumping the small distance and wrapping her legs around him, feeling his fingers dig into the bare skin of her thighs.

Her own hands moved over his cheeks and into his hair, sinking her fingers into his soft hair. In the back of her mind she knew that they ought to talk and she should apologize for acting as if his feelings offended her.

That she should tell him that she felt the same way.

But with his hands on her and his lips kissing hers and then traveling to other places, she could barely formulate a sentence.

And when she finally did find the words, it was when they were curled up against one another post euphoria. When they were pressed up against each other, naked and in a daze.

When he had whispered, "Goodnight, I love you." In that half-conscious way that sounded too sweet to be true, she decided that she'd wait.
