Rose Malfoy

I went back upstairs quickly, not wanting to interact with Blaise at all. I took a shower and got ready, packing up a few things that I had forgot and then headed back downstairs with everyone else ready to go to Platform 9 3/4.

"Ready kids?" Mother asked us and we nodded. "Blaise, do you know how to apparate?"

"Yes," He replied, looking at my mother.

I was doing it again. Taking small glances his way when I kept telling myself to stop.

"Great. Rose, grab onto Blaise." My eyes darted to my mother but as soon as they met hers, she smiled and apparated away. Draco chuckled and then apparated himself.

I never took my apparition class. I wanted to, but my father had said no. I don't understand why had had a say in my life because whenever he could, he told me how disappointed he was in me. After all, Malfoys are Slytherins. I'm a Hufflepuff.

"Come on" Blaise chuckled, grabbing my hand and apparating off together.

When we landed at the Platform, my stomach turned but I did my best not to throw up.

We said goodbye to my mother and I quickly get on the train to avoid everyone and everything. I found my own compartment and sat down.

There's always been something about Hogwarts that makes me want to cherish every moment I spend there. The train ride, classes, Hogsmeade weekends, the Yule Ball. Every little thing.

It's crazy to think that I'm in my seventh year and that I won't be able to come back next year unless I become a teacher, but I doubt that will happen.

I wish I wasn't a Hufflepuff. Everyone in my house looks at me like I'm crazy and like I shouldn't be there because I shouldn't. All of my friends, including family, are in Slytherin which puts me as the odd one out and I hate it. I'm the outcast.

"Rose" I bring my head up and look at the person who just walked in.

Him.

"We should talk. About what happened this summer," he says, sitting in the seat across from me.

"Right. Uh- it was a dare and I'm sorry." I look away from his eyes.

"But you're acting so different now and whenever I come over, even right now, you keep your eyes away from me and never talk to me anymore." He points out, which makes me look at him.

His dark brown, slanted eyes, stared right into my blue ones. I felt nervous. It felt like someone took my voice and I couldn't speak. I was shaking on the inside but I made sure that it didn't show.

"People change" I stated, feeling bad for lying.

I hated lying. I guess that was a part that showed how I really am a Hufflepuff.

"Not you, Rose. I've known you since we were kids. You've never changed." He leaned back into the seat.

"Maybe it's time for me to change" I lean my elbows on my knees, making me closer to him.

He follows my motion, his eyes not leaving mine. "Wh-" He's cut off by the compartment door opening and Scarlett walking in.

She pushed me over, sitting almost on top of me. Pansy then followed her but sat next to Blaise.

He stood up and before he walked out he looked at me and said "We can talk more later" With that, he left the compartment.

I could hear Pansy and Scarlett asking me all of these questions but I couldn't focus on them. I was in my own world thinking of how close he was to me. I could feel his breath on my face and his body heat radiating off of him and onto me.

He was so close.

I walked back to my compartment slowly. I didn't want to leave Rose just yet but it was probably good that I did. I know that if Draco was to find out about my little crush on his sister, he'd be mad and wouldn't want anything to happen at all.

Seeing her at the Yule Ball last year changed my perspective on her. She's beautiful, nice, and everything anyone could ask for.

That kiss this summer didn't mean anything to her and I knew that I just wish that it was the same for me. After the kiss, Rose had changed. She stopped hanging out with me and Draco every time that I came over which I thought was weird because when we were kids all she wanted was to be included.

Now, everything is different.

For me and Rose.

"Where have you been? You disappeared" Draco asked as I stepped into the compartment.

"Had to go to the loo" I lie, not wanting him to think I'm into his sister.

"Right. Anyways, Astoria stopped by and we sat and talked for a little. I think I'm going to ask her out soon. To Hogsmeade maybe"

"Get at it mate" I smile.

Dracos has had a thing for Astoria for as long as I can remember. He needs to do something about it.

"What about you? Any girl?" He asks.

I shake my head "No. I'll ride solo again this year"

After that, we changed the subject.

RIding solo this year isn't something I want. I want Rose but I can't have her and I know she doesn't want me in the same ways I want her.

Or so I thought.
