# Lunar — The Silver Ultima
"So she can kill like Ace?" Alex asked Dad.
"Or is she just stronger than us?"
Dad looked at Lunar.
"She can heal. She can see with her eyes closed and then open them again. She can run extremely fast."
He paused.
"Silvers are rare. There aren't many of them left."
Everyone listened.
"In my old pack, we had Silvers. Ace is kind of like one too, but Silver wolves were only girls."
Alex looked at Lunar.
"So Lunar is rare?"
"Very."
Dad looked at her carefully.
"She may be the last Silver I remember."
Lunar's ears lowered.
"But I don't know how those men got Silver blood to put inside her."
Dad's expression became serious.
"One thing I do know..."
He looked toward the woods.
"They aren't finished with Lunar."
Lunar immediately looked frightened.
"What do you mean?"
"They're coming back?"
Dad nodded.
"They may be."
Lunar's breathing became faster.
"You need to make sure that doesn't happen."
"It won't."
My voice came out before anyone else could answer.
Everyone looked at me.
"I'll make sure of it."
I stepped closer to Lunar.
"If those people put their hands on you again..."
My growl came from deep inside me.
"I'll rip them apart."
Everyone froze.
I looked around.
Their eyes were wide.
My own eyes felt different.
Brighter.
Bluer than they had ever been.
Alex stared at me.
"Jade..."
He took a step closer.
"Her wolf is coming out more."
Dad nodded slowly.
"She has been in her wolf form too long."
Alex looked between me and Lunar.
"She's going to become more wolf than Jade soon."
Dad's face became serious.
"We need to heal her before the next full moon."
Lunar looked worried.
"But..."
Dad hesitated.
"There is bad news."
Everyone became quiet.
"There is a full moon tonight."
Lunar's ears dropped.
"Tonight?"
"Yes."
"But it's not the red moon."
Dad shook his head.
"No."
"And we need the red moon for her to become human again."
Lunar looked at her paws.
"So..."
She swallowed.
"I'm going to be a full wolf tonight?"
Dad nodded.
"Yes."
Nobody spoke.
Lunar looked toward the sky.
The fear was written all over her face.
But I moved closer to her.
"You won't be alone."
She looked at me.
I smiled.
"We'll be here."
And somehow, I knew this wasn't going to be the end of Lunar's story.
It was only the beginning.
