After saying goodbye to Alex, I ran all the way home.
As I reached the front yard, I spotted Leanna sitting alone on the grass she was staring off into the distance her knees pulled up to her chest. She looked...sad. I walked over and sat beside her "hey sis she slowly turned her head towards me. " what do you want, Maya?" I frowned nothing I just saw you sitting out here by yourself. I studied her face you look upset. Leanna sighed I can't find my mate Maya I didn't say anything I knew how much it bothered her "mom and dad keep trying to help?" She continued but every guy they pick is just not my match she picked at a blade of grass I just want to find the right person i gently bumped her shoulder you will sis she looked at me look I found Ben so your mate will find you too. I really help so Maya I'm starting to give up. But if you really think so I won't give up she wrapped her arms around Maya into a hug thanks Maya" for what?" For always being here for me. she pulled back just enough to smile at me even when I'm having a terrible day you always know how to cheer me up" I smiled that's what little sister are for I'm really lucky to have you. And I'm lucky to have you too". For a moment we just sat there enjoying the quiet. Then Leanna looked at me with a grin so...? How's Alex I laughed he is officially became Alpha today." So he's the boss now?" Yep
"We're all supposed to listen to him."
Leanna smirked.
"Yeah... like that's ever going to happen."
I burst out laughing.
"I know."
The two of us sat there making jokes about Alex being Alpha.
We could already imagine him trying to act all serious while everyone teased him.
A few minutes later, the front door opened.
Mom stepped outside.
"Girls," she called, "it's getting late. Come inside."
"We're coming!" I answered.
Mom smiled before heading back into the house.
She was always reminding us not to stay outside after dark.
She worried about us more than she'd ever admit.
I stood up and stretched.
"My back is starting to hurt from sitting on the ground."
Leanna laughed as she stood.
"Mine too."
Together, we walked inside.
"We're going upstairs to hang out until dinner," I told Mom.
"That's fine," she replied with a smile. "Dinner will be ready soon."
"Okay!"
Leanna and I headed upstairs, talking and laughing the whole way.
For the first time that day...
She didn't look quite so sad anymore.
