I totally forgot I still had to do the big test after school with the others. With everything that had happened lately, I even forgot about me being a wolf.
Me, Alex, Maya, Nichole, Leanna, and the others all stayed after school. We sat down in the classroom while the teacher handed us our test books.
It was thirty pages.
I looked at it and let out a quiet sigh.
"This is going to take forever."
Alex laughed beside me.
"You got this."
I smiled a little and started reading the first question.
One by one I answered them as best as I could. Some questions were easy, but others made me stop and really think. Every few minutes I'd look over at Alex. He was already halfway through while I was still working on page twelve.
"How are you so fast?" I whispered.
"I don't know," he smiled. "I just remember things."
"Well... lucky you."
He chuckled and went back to writing.
Time seemed to fly by.
The classroom was almost completely silent except for pencils scratching across paper and pages turning.
I looked around.
Alex was almost finished.
Maya was getting close too.
Even some of the others were already handing their tests in.
I looked back down at mine.
*"Come on, Jade... just a little more."*
I took a deep breath and kept writing.
After what felt like forever, I reached the last page.
"Finally."
I answered the last question and smiled to myself.
"I did it."
I walked my test up to the teacher.
She smiled.
"Great job, Jade. Have a good night."
"You too."
As I turned to leave...
A sharp pain shot through my body.
"Aah..."
I grabbed the edge of a desk.
"What was that?"
Another pain hit.
Harder this time.
I held my side.
*"No... not now..."*
I looked toward the classroom window.
The sun was almost gone.
The moon was starting to rise.
Something about it looked... different.
Outside, Maya happened to glance up at the sky.
Her eyes went wide.
"Oh my gosh..."
She pulled out her phone as fast as she could and texted the group.
**THE MOON IS RED...**
Alex's phone buzzed.
He looked down at the message.
His face turned completely pale.
"Oh my God..."
He looked around the classroom.
"Jade?"
She wasn't there.
He stood up so fast his chair slid across the floor.
"Where's Jade?"
Everyone looked around.
"She was just here."
Nichole looked toward the hallway.
"I don't see her."
Maya's heart started racing.
"We have to find her."
"What?"
"Before the moon turns completely red!"
Everyone dropped what they were doing and ran out of the classroom.
"Split up!" Alex yelled. "Look everywhere!"
They ran down different hallways, calling my name.
"Jade!"
"Jade, where are you?"
Meanwhile...
I stumbled into the girls' washroom, barely making it inside before another wave of pain hit me.
"Aah..."
I grabbed the sink, trying to catch my breath.
"I've... never felt this kind of pain before."
It felt like every bone in my body was starting to ache.
My hands shook.
My breathing got faster.
"Is this... new?"
Another scream escaped my mouth as the pain grew even stronger.
I looked up at my reflection in the mirror.
My eyes didn't look normal anymore.
Fear rushed through me.
"I need Alex..."
I slid down the wall, trying to stay quiet.
*"Please..."*
*"I hope he finds me... before it's too late."*
