I looked at the time to see what time it was. School was almost over, and it was almost time to go home. I really hoped Jade was home. I missed her a lot. It wasn't the same without her. I missed riding with her, talking to her, and hearing her laugh. Even Lex seemed sad without her around.
I had a pretty good day at school, but I couldn't stop thinking about Jade. Every class I kept wondering if she was coming home today. Dad said he'd make sure she came home tonight, so I hoped he was right.
If I got home before she did, I'd just have to wait until Dad told me if she was really coming home. Waiting was the hardest part.
Maybe I'd go ride Thunder for a little while. Jade had been teaching me some western riding when Lex was younger, and I wanted to practice everything she showed me. Maybe when she got home, I could surprise her and show her how much I've learned. I hoped she'd smile and tell me I was getting better.
I looked out the classroom window and smiled to myself.
*"Come home soon, Jade,"* I thought. *"Everyone misses you... especially me."*
Just then the final bell rang. I grabbed my backpack, hurried out of my classroom, and rushed outside to find Dad. I couldn't wait to get home. I had a feeling today was finally going to be the day Jade came back.
