A/N I edited the Prologue but none of the other chapters. This book is being rewritten.
"I think she died. Did she die?" A light gray she-kit prowled cautiously around a small white she-kit.
"No, Leafkit, don't say such horrible things!" A silvery-gray she-cat purred, "Of course she's not dead."
"Leafkit," cooed another she-cat, she swished her white tail, "It's about time you got a sister."
Leafkit rolled her eyes, "I'm ONE moon old."
"Yes." The white she-cat purred, she blinked her orange eyes, "So?"
"ONE.MOON.OLD" Leafkit stated again, flicking her light-gray tail in frustration.
The silvery-gray she-cat pulled Leafkit closer to her, "What Lilywhisker is trying to say," she answered slowly, "is that you can have a sister no matter how old or young you are."
"I could never be like you," Lilywhisker meowed, "You always had a way with kits, Lightwhisper."
At that moment, the tiny snow-white kit wriggled and opened her eyes. She blinked her bright blue eyes and meowed curiously, testing her voice.
"Oh, she's not dead." Leafkit sat down on the nursery floor in apparent disappointment, "That's a shame."
"Leafkit..." Lightwhisper stroked the pouting gray kitten with her tail, "Why don't YOU name her?"
"Fiiiiiiiiiine." Leafkit kicked a small rock away from her as she scanned her sister, looking for special features. "Let's call her Blackkit. Because she's black, or is it white. What's the difference between black and white again?"
Lightwhisper chuckled, she licked the white kit on the kit's head a few times. The kit meowed loudly in protest and try to toddle away. She managed to take one shaky step forward before her legs collapsed beneath her. She swiped her tail and blinked her blue eyes innocently.
"How about we call her Skykit?" Lightwhisper cooed, "For her eyes."
"If you must." Leafkit pouted before sulking away.
"It's a stage." Lilywhisker sighed, "She'll get over it and both she and Skykit will rule the forest." She smiled and added, "At least spirit wise."
"I know." Lightwhisper turned to look at Skykit who had managed to take a few steps forward, "I just hope it happens soon."
