Chapter 28: Kind of weird

"Arrrgh!" I punched as hard as I possibly could, and the punching bag went flying and nearly rebounded and smacked me in the face. I only ducked down just in time. "Nice job Garcia! Use any anger and punch as hard as you can!"

I punched over and over, till my arms were sore and my knuckles ached under the gloves. Britney told me to take two, and I slumped over to get out my water bottle. "Damn Ava, I've never seen you fight like that. You're getting better each day." Britney said. I spoke to her through breaths. "Yeah. Thanks again for coaching me in self defence and stuff. I appreciate it."

"No problem. You don't want to look weak. I get it."

Britney was one of the few people who in fact, DID get it. After I got kidnapped and almost died, I may not have shown it, but I felt like an idiot. Now everywhere I went, there was always full security. It was impossible to relax. I felt weak, to have been beaten up and hurt so easily. I was a victim and I hated it. I had learnt a little karate when I was a kid, but I barely remembered much. So, I asked Britney to teach me how to fight, since she was the most badass fighter I know. She agreed to not tell anybody either because it was just plain embarrassing.

"I think we're good for today. You don't wanna be late on set, do you?" Britney said, snapping me out of my reverie. "Yeah." I replied. I didn't want to lose the job I'd miraculously got now. People are already having second thoughts, thanks to my injuries and my mom in jail. Her trial was going on, and I was called to the stand. It was absolutely insane, like a freaking episode of Suits. I loved that show though, Mike and Harvey's friendship always cracks me up. I didn't know much, so I just said whatever I could. But there was some other witness who came forward and busted my mom for something, and then her verdict was jail. She had forty-eight hours to turn herself in, and she still hadn't shown up to say goodbye. Her time was almost up.

I just pushed her out of my mind and went to take a shower. I had to forget about her. She never gave a crap about me. Yet, there was a time when she was an awesome mom. Loving, caring and kind. Everything she was before dad died. That's when everything went wrong with her and out family fell apart.

I pushed the thought out of my mind and got out of the shower. I don't want to be late to film. I slipped on some denim jeans and a crop hoodie and walked out to eat some breakfast.

"Looks like she's finally awake. I was about to come in your room and yell at you."

"Very funny Leo."

Britney walked in after me and grabbed some toast. "Hey Leo. Sup Luke."

They both looked at her in confusion. "Did you stay over or something? I didn't see you here last night." Luke asked.

"I came here late. You guys were probably sleeping. Anyway, I gotta go my mom's gonna kill me if I don't help her today. Bye!"

I waved at her and she walked out coolly, taking some bacon along with her. Leo plopped down some toast and bacon in front of me too. "Eat up. I've got to take Luke to some stupid friend's house."

Luke looked indignant. "Hey! The 'stupid friend' happens to be my best friend." Leo scratched his head. "Oh yeah. What was his name again? Candy?"

"Cody, you idiot. Who names a person candy?"
