I wake up, forgetting I even went to sleep last night.
Well, I'm not fully awake.
I really didn't wanna open my eyes, they felt tired.
You know what I mean?
But, I'd have to.
I mean, I can't lay in a bed all day.
I slowly flutter my eyes open, but as soon as I do, I quickly sit up.
Something was off.
I don't know what, but something felt off
I look around the cabin, and nothing was wrong.
But something felt wrong.
I turn to look at Loki, who was still sound asleep.
I hate these weird gut feelings.
Nothing is even wrong, but yet something feels off.
I go to grab Willie, but he's not where I left him on the bed.
I panic a bit, and push the covers to the end of the bed, looking for Willie.
He's the only thing I have from my past.
I'm not overreacting.
I flip over the pillows on my side of the bed, but nothing's there.
I keep looking under the blankets and pillows, but there's no sign of Willie.
I stand up from the bed, looking under it.
Absolutely nothing but dust.
And now I'm panicking.
I see Loki roll around, rubbing his eyes.
I probably just woke him up.
And it was only 8am.
"What's the matter?" He asks, his voice tired.
"I can't find my sock monkey." I tell him.
He chuckles a bit, but then realizes I'm being serious.
He realizes how panicked I was.
"He's not here." I say.
It sounds like I'm overreacting.
I know it does.
He sits up, and then stands up from the bed.
"Then we'll find him." He says.
He flings the covers off the bed, and looks under the sheets.
No sign of him.
He tosses the pillows off of the bed, too.
He looks under the bed, once he sees there's no sign of Willie.
And I already checked under there, so he clearly wouldn't be there.
How could I lose a sock monkey?
I mean, I had him last night.
"Where could it have gone?" Loki asks, checking under the bed again.
"I don't know. I had him last night."
"Right, I saw that you had him."
I look around the bed, even the end of the bed.
But still nothing.
I'm about to give up, when I look at the small coffee table next to the bed.
There was a little sticky note, that I don't recall being there before.
But who knows, maybe it was.
I walk over to the coffee table, and pick up the sticky note.
It was folded a bunch of times.
"What is that?" Loki asks.
"It's a sticky note."
"A what?"
"It's paper, Loki. Paper."
I unfold the note, and turn it over.
And as I read the note, my heart drops a bit.
"You always did love the sock monkey, didn't ya?"
I crumble up the paper, and throw it across the room.
"Loki, we can't stay here."
His eyebrows raise, "What?"
"We can't stay here anymore."
Loki looks confused as hell.
"What did that note even say?" He asks, going across the room to grab it.
He picks it up, and un-crumbles it.
His eyebrows narrow as he reads the note.
"What does it mean?"
"What do you think it means?"
Loki looks at me and shrugs.
"Who else knows how much I loved that sock monkey?"
He looks confused for a few seconds, but I think the realization soon hits him.
"Your father?" He asks.
I nod.
"We have to go, Loki. Anywhere, but not here."
He nods, and grabs a bag to put some food in.
"How did he manage to find you?" He asks, packing a bunch of food into the bag.
"Your guess is just as good as mine, I have no idea."
I look around for Sam, and thank goodness, I find him.
I pick him up, slowly, and he doesn't make a fit about it.
He was calm.
"How am I supposed to bring Sam?" I ask, a bit more panicked now.
It's not like I had a cage.
And it's not like I could bring him on the motorcycle.
Whatever the solution is, I'm not leaving him.
It's just a cat, but that's the problem.
I can't abandon the guy.
Anyways, he's special to me now.
"You hold onto him, clearly." Loki says, as though it's simple.
"How will I ride the motorcycle?"
"You're not."
"You're steering it?!"
"Of course not, we have the tesseract."
"We just leave the motorcycle here, then?"
"It's not exactly necessary."
I nod, and hold onto Sam tightly.
I can't ever leave him.
I'd feel like a bitch.
I grab the camera that Loki stole, and push it into my pocket.
Loki was now pushing clothes into a bag, but he couldn't even fit them all.
And unfortunately, there aren't any bags left.
He quickly grabs the blanket that he threw on the floor.
It was all we could carry.
He holds the bags and the blanket in one hand, and reveals the tesseract in the other.
He walks over to me, quickly, and grabs onto my hand.
"Where are we going?" I ask.
"Anywhere." He answers.
And with the blink of an eye, we're in.. a forest?
"A forest? Really?" I ask.
"Where would you like me to go? We can't exactly stay at a hotel!" He answers.
"Well, where do we stay in a forest?"
"There's a lovely cave to the right, if you'd turn around to look." He joked.
