Bruce showed me to the footage. The security cameras showed it. The 7 seconds of Erik being strange. Well, being confused that is. One moment, he's sitting with his back pressed against the glass, and the next, somethings off. You could see it in his eyes from one of the cameras that show his face. It's like a realization, it seems to be. And as soon as that happens, he's looking around him like he's never seen the place before. He stands up and puts his hands against the glass. There's something wrong. Then, like Natasha said, he goes back to normal. He sits back down with his back against the glass. I can't even tell if it's a joke anymore. I mean, I barely ever watch the security footage. He wouldn't know if I watch it or not. How could he be joking? This is just a whole different thing to worry about now. Something clearly isn't right.
"What's wrong with him?" I ask Bruce, replaying the 7 seconds over and over again.
He shrugs, "I don't even have the answer to that question. It could be an illness? Even a joke?"
"Is it possible to run tests?" I ask, turning the footage off.
"I could, if you'd like me to. His behavior does seem odd, and if you really need a reassurance of whatever you're worried about, I'll do it."
"Thank you, Bruce. I appreciate it. I guess I'm just worried for him."
He looks confused for a moment, "Why?" He asks, genuinely, and not in a rude way.
I shrug, "I've got my memories back. He's technically still my father. I know what this man did, but I still have sympathy for him. He was a good man, and I can't get that out of my head. Ever since I've gotten my memories back, all I could think about is the good memories."
"And since you still have the thought of a good man, you couldn't imagine anything bad happening to him?" Bruce asks.
I nod, "Exactly. And it sucks."
He nods, and looks back at a tablet he's holding,
"Has this ever happened before? Him acting different? Even the slightest difference in him can, well, make a difference."
...
But either way, immediately, the mountain rock breaks from above me.
And now I'm falling. I'm falling so fast, but so slow at the same time. I don't wanna go anymore. I don't wanna die.
"God, damnit."
And suddenly, something appears above me, and then swoops me up to the top of the mountain.
I didn't even open my eyes to see who it was.
But soon, I'm thrown on top of the mountain.
The snowy mountain.
...
I'm not sure about this time. He could've saved me just because he needed me, but why does he need me so badly? There's a bunch of other super soldiers. I'm not saying they deserve the torture, but if they're already there, why go through so much trouble for me? I don't get why he didn't let me fall.
"Once. I'm not even sure if I'm right about it though." I answer.
"Alright. When was this?"
"More than a month ago. Nothing ever happened like this again till recently."
He nods, "Well, then. I'll get these tests back to you by the end of the day."
"Thanks, Bruce." I say, before leaving.
"Happy Birthday, by the way." He smiles.
"Thank you."
...I collapse back onto my bed, grabbing that book from Peter's bookshelf again. I just wanted some peace and quiet now. No father's acting strange, no big party or surprise, just peace and quiet. Some alone time.
It doesn't take long for me to be interrupted again, because suddenly, I hear something from the closet.
"Oh, you've gotta be kidding me." I sigh, getting up to open the closet. I already knew what I was gonna see. As soon as I opened the closet, Sam was there, sitting tied up to a chair with tape over his mouth. He looks relieved when I finally open the closet.
I rip the tape off his mouth quickly, causing him to wince a bit.
"Let me guess, Loki?" I ask.
He nods, "Your guess is right. Yeah, he doesn't like people talking to him a lot. He also doesn't like people trying to randomly dump a bucket of water on him."
I chuckle, "That sucks, I talk to him a lot and he's never tied me to a chair in a closet."
"Oh, shut up and untie me." He complains.
"But then again, I've never tried to prank him over and over again."
"Sarah, get me out of the chair."
"I don't know... I was getting a lot of peace and quiet when you had tape all over your mouth." I joke.
"Don't even think about leaving me in here."
"It would be fun..."
"Sarah!"
"Fine, fine. Okay," I say, beginning to untie him, "Maybe avoid attempting to prank him for a while."
"Or maybe you could just help me prank him."
"Oh, that's a war I don't want to start." I laugh, getting him untied. He sits up, and walks out of the closet.
"Come on, it'd just be one time. He wouldn't even have to know that you helped me."
"Sam, he's an Asgardian God who has magic. I'm pretty sure he'll know." I chuckle, falling back onto my bed, opening the book.
He rolls his eyes and heads toward the door. He looks both ways, but quickly slams the door shut again. He locks it, too.
"Fuck, no, he's coming back. Loki's coming back." He says, heading back toward the closet.
"What are you doing?" I laugh.
"Pretend you don't know I'm in here. Pretend I'm still tied up."
"What?" I chuckle.
"Damnit, just do it!" He says, closing the closet just as Loki knocks on the door.
I unlock the door with the flick of my wrist, "Come in." I shout so he could hear me.
Like expected, when the door opens, Loki comes waking in.
"Hello." He smiles, walking over to sit down next to me.
"Hi." I smile back, making room so he could sit down .
"How's your birthday going so far?"
I shrug, "It feels like any other day, to be honest. I haven't celebrated my birthday in years. Today, I just want to relax for once. Nothing big."
"I hope that doesn't mean you wouldn't accept a gift," He makes a small wrapped present appear with his magic. I still don't know where the stuff he hides even goes, "Your spider friend helped to wrap it. I never wrapped a gift before."
He hands the gift to me as I put the book down. I open it and I immediately can't help but smile. In the small box was a homemade, or what really seemed to be homemade, bracelet. The bracelet was green and gold, obviously since he loves those colors, and it was one of those bead bracelets, which I think is really cute that he took his time to make something as simple as a bead bracelet. Hell with simple, it probably took him hours to figure out how to get it right.
In the box, there was also a golden ring, that didn't seem to be homemade. It was really beautiful. It had a dark green gem on it.
Lastly, there was a photo that I don't remember him taking, considering it was when we were at the cabin. I was literally asleep in this photo, and I looked hilariously a mess, while Loki must've figured out how to somewhat take a selfie with the old camera, since he's in the photo too. It looked like he was laughing at the way I was sleeping in the photo, which he probably was. The sheets were tangled between my legs whilst laying on my stomach, my hair was simply a huge mess, and my arms were spread across the mattress.
"I know it isn't much, but I couldn't exactly get away with stealing a motorcycle like I do with Midgardian money...." He says, "Well.. perhaps I can."
I steal a quick kiss on his cheek, "No, it's perfect. I love it," I smile, putting on the bracelet and the ring, "And not matter how ridiculous I look in this photo, I love it." I chuckle.
"I took advantage in that moment since I learned how to take a photograph with that odd Midgardian device." He admits.
"I could tell." I chuckle, looking at the photo again. I finally feel happy, I realize. Genuinely. For the first time in a long time. I've gotten my friends, my brother, and Loki. We sort of made the relationship we have official last week. It's nice, and I don't have anything to worry about right now besides whatever is going on with Erik.
"Thank you." I smile, hearing a small thud in the closet. Obviously Loki heard it, since he's the one who put Sam in the closet. Plus he glanced over at the closet really quickly, but then looked back at me as quickly as he glanced at the closet.
I smirk, giving away that I knew he was there.
"What?" Loki asks, acting clueless.
"Nothing, it's just, I haven't seen Sam since this morning, and I just have the sudden urge to open the closet." I shrug, trying not to laugh.
"Is it really necessary, though? To open the closet? Something probably just fell."
"Or, you know, someone fell." I chuckle.
"I don't think so." Loki insists.
"I'm gonna open the closet." I chuckle, standing up.
"No, don't do that. It's not necessary." He says, grabbing my arm, trying to distract me by kissing me.
"Loki, I know he's in there." I laugh, opening the closet with the flick of my wrist. As soon as the closet opened, Sam was just sitting there, trying to be quiet, but it was already given away.
"He attempted to pour water over me and he talks to much. I had no choice."
"Well, it was real smart to tie him up in my closet that I open daily." I joke.
"What else was I supposed to do, tie him up in someone else's closet?"
"Maybe you could've not tied me up at all." Sam suggests, standing up out of the closet.
"No, I had to do that. That was necessary." Loki claims.
"Your boyfriend's a dick," Sam jokes. Or maybe he's not joking. I really can't tell, "I'm gonna go get food, want anything?"
I nod, I wasn't hungry right now. Hopefully Sam wouldn't try to take the whole fridge with him again.
Tony wouldn't like that. He hated the confetti from this morning. Only because he was forced to clean it up himself. Loki refused to clean it up. Yeah, Tony still hates Loki with a passion.
