"Are you sure this will work?" I ask.
"It has to." Peter replies.
We walk up to the side of the door frame, unseen.
Steve was sitting alone so it was going to be really easy.
"Nobody's coming, do it now." Peter whispers.
I peek my hand through the doorway a bit, not noticeably easy to see, and start the prank.
With the move of my hand, a glass of water starts floating toward Steve.
It was hard to contain my laughter.
The water creeped slowly toward him from behind.
Peter starts laughing.
I elbow him with my other arm and it makes me lose focus, dropping the glass.
Before it could hit the ground, I catch it in the air and start moving it toward him again.
It creeps closer and closer to him.
Suddenly, Bucky and Nat walk through the other entrance, staring at the water floating.
They look over to the doorway, seeing my hand sticking out.
Nat smiles and Bucky covers his mouth with his hand, doing his best not to give it away. They sit down next to Steve, every now and then glancing at the glass of water.
Now, the glass of water was right above his head.
Bucky continues to cover his mouth with his palm, trying his very, very, best not to give it away.
Steve looks up at Bucky.
"What? Do I have something on my face?" He says, touching it.
Bucky nods and continues to try not to laugh.
"Then why are you staring and laughing?"
This does it for Bucky.
He starts laughing uncontrollably.
Nat just smiles and chuckles a bit, flipping through a magazine.
Steve looks above his head.
"Oh no."He sighs.
With that, I tilt the glass of water, pouring it out on him.
Steve's face and neck is drenched with water, as well as part of his shirt.
Peter starts laughing, giving it away.
"You could come out now." Nat says, smiling.
"You go." Peter says.
"No, you first." I say, pushing him through the door way.
He just stands there, not knowing what to say.
"Uh- hi." He says, giving a little wave.
"How'd you do that?" Steve asks, clearly confused.
Bucky looks over to the door way where I still hide.
"You better check the doorway twice, pal." Bucky says to Steve.
"What are you talking ab..." he pauses and gets up, realizing it was probably me.
I hide behind the doorway, trying not to be spotted.
Then I remember.
Experiments gave me powers.
Useful ones.
I close my eyes and go invisible.
"Nobody's there." Steve says, looking at me.
He couldn't see me.
"Buck, what are you talking about?" He yells back.
Bucky comes running over to the doorway and he laughs.
"Sarah, we know you're there." Bucky says, looking right at my eyes.
I don't move. I wanted to see how long it took for Steve to realize what was going on.
Bucky could easily tell when I was there or not.
"She's not there, Buck. Are you okay?" Steve wonders.
Bucky reaches out his arm at mine.
"What the...?" Steve asks, doing the same.
I couldn't hold back the laughter anymore.
I show myself, not invisible anymore.
"AaGh." Steve yells, jumping back.
It felt good to laugh.
I haven't laughed In so long and I was starting to feel happy again.
But for how long?
This happiness was temporary.
It always was. I'd be happy for a little while, but then disappear in my thoughts again.
"How'd you do that?" Steve asks.
"Do what? This?" I say disappearing again.
"God- yes. That." He says, still frightened.
I shrug, showing myself again.
"Just a perk I guess." I tell him.
"So, you splashed the water on me?"
"No, it was a ghost." I joke.
He mumbles something and goes to get a towel.
Peter comes over to me, giving me a high five.
"You planned this?" Bucky asks me.
"Nope, it was Peter's idea. But, I helped." I grin.
"Alright, go get cleaned up for supper." Bucky says to me, putting a hand on my shoulder.
"Get off of me." I remember saying, the first time he ever did that.
I let go of the thought and go get washed for dinner.
It was weird.
Dinner.
I hadn't gotten it in so long.
And now, people cared about me?
Out of pity.
I let the thought go. I hated thinking.
My mind is more powerful than a gun will ever be.
