I have no idea how long it's been. It had to be a month, at least. The day I first came here, they surprisingly didn't wipe my memories. They haven't even brainwashed me yet, they were just preparing me. Plus, the machine wasn't working right. It was really old. They actually tested the machine on a guy a few times. Let's just say, electricity isn't the best thing when it shocks people... I'm pretty sure that guy isn't doing too well.
Right now, all I could do is sit in my cell, waiting. I know it could never happen, but I hoped somebody was coming back for me. Maybe, originally, I should have listened to Loki. Maybe there could have been another way, than to come back here. But either way, I'd lose control eventually.
And I'm also pretty shocked they haven't said those words to make me lose it, yet. I guess they wanted my memories to be wiped first. Who knows?
My thoughts are disturbed by the girl next to me. I still don't know my name, and she doesn't know mine. I plan to keep it that way, for now.
But we'd gotten closer in the last month. Just friends, obviously, but I needed a friend. I know I shouldn't have talked to her too much, since when you become friends with someone you could become attached. And soon, one of us will forget about the other.
"So, what happened when you escaped Hydra?" She asks.
"I was taken to the Avenger's Tower." I whisper.
"What's an Avenger?"
"They're basically superheroes."
"Cool.."
It was upsetting to watch her struggle with remembering things, just as I used to. She couldn't remember a thing, really. I remembered nothing in the past month, either. All I've been doing is thinking. I've been thinking a lot. Probably too much. But what else is there to do here but train and think? Most of the time, we're not even training. They want to manipulate us first, by wiping our memories. But like I said, they can't do that yet.
So basically, I'm just waiting for the pain. It's even worse to think about the fact I'm going to lose it all. I'm not going to remember anybody or anything that happened. They'll tell me what I am, and what I do. Even if it's not true.
...
Loki's POV.....
We've failed. I've failed.
Sarah isn't in New York, we checked the old building where she was held last. Nobody was there, but a few dead bodies. It was disgusting and disappointing. We waited a whole month just to raid a building without a single soul there.
And this past month, I've been a mess, I'll admit it. I don't sleep, eat, or even speak at all.
"If she's not here, where is she?" I hear the conversation in the hallway. It's Tony and Bruce.
By now, my wound had healed enough for me to stand up straight. If I bend in a certain way, it'll hurt for a moment, but I'm better. So, I walk over to the door and listen.
"You think I know?" Tony asks, "Trust me, if I knew where she was, she'd be here by now."
"Where else could we look, though? We have no idea where Hydra keeps people, and we don't even know if she's.." he pauses.
"If she's what, Bruce?"
"We don't even know if she's alive."
"You're definitely the optimistic type, aren't you?"
"She's been missing for a month, what optimism is there? She's smart, why hasn't she tried to leave?"
"If I knew, trust me, I'd tell ya."
"Wait, Tony, come back. We need to talk about this!"
"I'm hungry, so this talk is going to wait."
She can't be dead, right? She must be alive. She wouldn't have given up. She has to have faith.
I walk back over to her bed, and sit down. What if she truly was gone, though? What if she was gone, and it was painful? What if she was gone, and she was alone?
I'm about to lay down, to forget about it, when somebody shouts.
"EVERYBODY GET OUT HERE, NOW." It's Natasha.
What was so important that I just get up?
Surely, she wasn't talking to me. Nobody wants me around.
"Goddamnit, it's about Sarah!" She shouts.
And that makes me sit up, and immediately rush to where she was.
"Romanoff, what is it? What did you find?" Steve asks.
"Barnes and I found a possible location of where she could be." She answers.
Possible?
"How do we even know she's there?" Clint asks.
"We don't, but it's the closest location to Wakanda. About a 5 day walk." She answers.
"So, if she's been there since we left Wakanda... then we've been waiting around for nothing? We could go find her." Bruce states.
"Romanoff, lead the way." Tony says, leaving the room.
And everybody followed. So, naturally, I followed too. Are we going to find her?
...
Sarah's POV...
This day wasn't going to end well. I know it. While I was forced to train, and beat up other people, I overheard some of the guards talking. The machine was working. They planned on using it tonight. One of them said, "I heard the first person'll be his daughter."
That says a lot.
I wish they'd say his name. I wanted to know it. I didn't like calling him my father, and I wish I could remember his name.
But I have no idea.
So, I decided, when they were walking me back to my cell, I'd grab something off of one of the guards desk. A pen and paper. I could write myself, or anyone, a note. So that, maybe, if I forgot everything, this letter can help me remember. And, you know, to let the others know what happened, if they found me.
They didn't notice me taking it, for I found out that not only can I make myself invisible, but I could make things seem invisible. Of course, most of the guards had these weird goggles to know where I was, if I ever decided to be invisible. But that was only because it shows a person and their body heat through the goggles. So, always, I was visible. But the paper and pen wasn't exactly easy to see.
