This is absolutely one of the most important chapters of this "Extras" book. Before I start, I want to thank all of you for following so far. It really is appreciated. Now let's get into it.
There's no question that The Mekai has an abundance of Shonen manga/anime influence coupled with popular Western tropes, character archetypes, and clichés. It doesn't take rocket science to figure that one out. Don't count my own imagination out though *insert wearing sunglasses emoji*! It is actually the marriage of all these different elements which determined the way I went about writing these books, as well as the reason for the way they were released.
Essentially, the Mekai series is one huge manga in prose form. Each individual book is a tankobon volume over the course of 5 different major story arcs (it's currently in the second arc). Take that and combine it with my personal style of writing- plot driven and episodic with heavy emphasis on the main characters' psyche, using more simplistic prose- and you basically have 95% of my Wattpad library.
Stick around for the next chapter and I will go into detail about what I've discovered over time as well as an important announcement as to where I'm taking the series next.
