Ladin's name is a play on "Aladdin".
Ladin was inspired by Shenlong (Shenron in English dubs), the magic dragon from the Dragon Ball series. That's where the idea of summoning him after gathering three parts of the lamp together to grant a single wish.
Shenron is summoned by gathering 7 dragon balls and he grants a single wish.
