Mikayla's name originates from a girl named Kayla: my first major crush ever from 2nd grade. Being one of the three original characters from the original story, The Kingdom, Mikayla was made to be the main character's girlfriend because of my crush.
She is also one of the two of the 3 original characters to have the same name over the years, with Ren being in second.
