The Mekai are inherently born with the knowledge of how to read, write, and speak all of the languages of the world. Despite this, Nomekian children grow up and generally undergo the same cycles of life at the same pace as most ordinary children worldwide.
The strangest of phenomenons, though, is that their native tongue can only be understood by Mekai. No ordinary humans can read, write, or speak Nomekian except for a very elite few. John, Radcliffe, and Bärin are the only non-Nomekian people in the series are knowledgeable of the Nomekian language.
