Originally, Barin Nix was originally intended to just be rendered unconscious by Yin and Yang's combined attack. He was supposed to share the same fate as Radcliffe at the hands of Ren.
Given that Barin was just a pawn himself, it just didn't feel right to have him go out the same way.
