In that concept mentioned last, Ren created the Thunder Brothers to kill Ray. Ray, during the fight, unknowingly sealed the Thunder Bros. away. Ren became enraged and attacked Ray with an Annihilus, and Ray, again, unknowingly released an attack from the Teketsu.
When the two attacks collided, a wormhole tore within the space-time continuum and sucked them both and they are reborn in the world and time period in which the main story takes place.
