Ren's signature technique, the Annihilus is based off of the Killing Curse used by Voldemort in the Harry Potter series and Frieza's Death Beam from Dragon Ball.
The idea of a spell that delivers an instant kill in a single blow was taken from the Killing Curse.
Ren firing the spell from his extended index finger is directly inspired by Frieza's Death Beam, which he fires from his index finger.
Also, those two characters were my inspiration for Ren's personality. Like Voldemort, Ren loves to be feared and to have power. Like Frieza, Ren is sadistic and loves toying around with his foes.
