Ren not only uses ancient and forbidden Nomekian techniques, but he also mixes them with human dark magic; a lot of the techniques he uses aren't even of Nomekian origin. This combination of human sorcery and Mekai powers is the reason he is feared/respected by many Mekai, sorcerers, wizards, witches, alchemists, etc.
