Oh my! The bokahns are fictional creatures that will appear throughout the series. They are first introduced in Revenge of the Agaron and are described in having bodies like that of a bear, having paws, claws, and stripes like that of a tiger, and a mane and tale like a lion.
The origin of these bokahns was inspired by a creature I made up before hand, named Bo. Bo was an alien "beast" from space that looked like a tiger with a lion's mane and a slim bear-like physique. Because I liked this design, I tweaked it a bit and made it a vicious and primitive creature in The Mekai.
The word "bokahn" was in fact influenced by two things: "bo" from the alien I imagined and then "kahn" based on Rudyard Kipling's Shere Khan, the tiger from The Jungle Book.
