Ray accomplished this by sealing Ren within Oblivion.
1. Whenever Ray chants to close the Gates of Oblivion, a golden light fires from his Teketsu into the Abyss.
2. When Ray chanted the closing spell, while the sword was inside Ren's body, the "sealing light" flung him down into Oblivion and closed it behind him.
3. Therefore, by sealing Ren, Ray sent him to a "fiery demise within a ray of light"- LITERALLY.
