Ren's appearance is very similar to Saruman from The Lord of the Rings. This, however, is completely coincidental. I imagined Ren in 1998, and I never saw any Lord of the Rings film until 2003.
A major difference is that Ren has blood-red irises in his eyes and has a white goatee rather than a huge beard. Ren's hair, nails, clothing, eyebrows- all of it is snow white.
Ren is actually the personification how I always imagined the Devil looked. Some people saw baphomets, some people saw a red man with a pitch fork. Me? Whenever someone mentioned the Devil, Ren popped up into my head.
