Lexie Pov:
- "Amelia Shepherd"- she introduced herself and big question marks popping up in my head.
- "Shepherd? I heard you right?" - I asked in disbelief
- "Yes, something wrong?" - she asked, perplexed at my surprise
- "Not all is right, I just know a person with the same last name"- I explained, telling myself that it was just a run-up of names.
- "I guess it's time for you. Who you are?" - she asked with a curious glance
- "Lexie Grey"
- "Grey?" - she asked with the same surprise that I owned a second ago
- "Yes, Grey"
- "It's a very strange situation, but do you know Meredith Grey?"- she asked
- "Yes, that's my half sister"
- "Derek is my brother" - she confessed, and for me everything started to form one puzzle - "You surely know him"
- "Yes, we have good contact. He delves me in neurosurgery" - I replied, still gently disbelieving that I had met Derek's sister
- "So you come from Seattle and you work in the same hospital as my beloved brother, who is your sister's husband, which makes us, to some extent, family" – concluded
- "You could say that"- I said, and we laughed
- "Then tell me about them. It's been a long time since I talked to Derek, because of my compulsive antics, we lost contact."
- "They work, they love each other, and from such ground-breaking things they try to adopt the African orphan Zola"
- "Derek's having a baby? God thank God my mother didn't know about this, unless she would have strangled him if she had found out he hadn't called her and told her. In fact, neither of us said. Contact broke, ahh I miss him" - she said sentimentally - "We used to be inseparable, we had a lot of experiences together, which you probably know, since he is your brother-in-law."
- "Maybe it's time to call him?" - I suggested
- "Certainly not under the influence of alcohol. Maybe when I gonna sober up. Derek doesn't like me to drink. I have spoiled my life with addictions and now even the smallest amounts of alcohol I consume irritate him. But that's good, it shows that he cares about me, as about many people too."
- "Oh yeah, Derek is very caring. Although he keeps his private life outside of work. Except maybe Meredith. He always makes me laugh when he gives me a minute to talk about something of my private life, then he gives a piece of advice and a second later acts like there's no topic."
- "All Derek. All of Derek, he acts like any Sheperd, work is the most important thing, but family is always after it. But the Meredith in my mother's story seems so too."
- "You know, we are both in surgery residency and every operation counts, every patient and our lives are mostly based on the hospital. We have friends there, sometimes when someone is lucky they will find love. Well, our world revolves in the hospital, we only sleep at home."
- "I know this pain 2 years ago I was on it too. One of the best and worst periods of life."
- "Back to your assumptions about my sister. You may be right. Meredith is twisted and dark inside. I will say so, they matched up with Derek."
- "Oh, they fit in"- she replied, then quickly turned to her friends and back. - "You know what I enjoy talking to you about"
- "I understand you have to go back to your friends, go!" - I said indulgently. It is only logical that she came with them and not to me. The fact that we met is a total accident.
