Meredith Pov:
On a scale of one to ten, how awkward was this dinner? At least eleven. I have my husband next to me, who is just as confused as I am and disgusted a little bit with this situation for some reason. We only exchange glances, adding a few smiles, trying not to tell the whole truth.
Opposite us are Mark and Lexie, who are quite realistic about their role and theater. Sloan has a hand on the back of my sister's chair, and she keeps smirking at him, as if they only met yesterday. I sense a partial powerlessness in her behavior, because she shows no other tenderness from the entrance, her partner is stopped by her because of it, because knowing him, he would be able to do much more if only Lexie would agree to it.
We also have Mrs. Shepherd at our table, asking about every detail of our relationships, mainly focusing on Mark and Lexie (which gives me and Derek the freedom). She is like a detective, he has to know everything, every trip, every evening spent, the amount of sexual intercourse and plans for the future. Ohh Mark and Callie's baby is the main topic. Their daughter has more pre-birth interest than anyone else in this world.
I guess I should stop with alcohol because I'm getting a little rude. Of course I think their baby is going to be great, I just don't like Sloan's behavior today and will criticize it for the rest of the day. Well, that's who I am.
- "I think we're out of alcohol ..."- Derek announced, after emptying the bottle with his brother
- "We should have something else in the segment, will you check?" - I announced, and my husband went to check the place I had indicated without any objection.
- "Empty, the segment is empty,"- the brunette announced
- "Then we know what you two do after your shift,"- Mark joked. - "They're kind of responsible parents"- he added, then laughed again, this time as the only one, and Lexie kicked him in the leg under the table, which was actually ridiculous.
- "The only thing left for you, gentlemens, is to drink a glass of wine with us." - Mrs. Shepherd replied
- "I'd rather not drink anything honestly" - replied Mark - "But take it easy Derek, I think I have another bottle in my car, I just have to go there, and it may take a while, so I'm getting ready" - he added and, as he promised, he did. because after a while he closed the door to the house behind him.
- "Maybe I can heat the food, because it has definitely cooled down" - I suggested.
- "And I'll help you, this is all so much food to heat, after all,"- Lexie added, and so together, plates in hand, we headed to the kitchen.
We put everything on the table and tried to heat it up in batches. We put some things in the oven, some in the microwave, and the rest we just put in the fridge so that we would have enough food for the next week.
- "Do you want some wine? I suggest because you approach this situation completely sober, I am not put in it and I can not cope with full awareness, and you joke, smile, and then what? Will you break down in yourself again and you will not be contacted for a month?' - I asked, taking a bottle of wine out of the refrigerator - "And besides, why am I asking? You drink and that's it."
- "No Mer, I will thank you this time." - she replied, and I continued to pour her wine - "Meredith seriously! I'm not drinking today!"
- "Because? Got a hangover after LA? Don't worry, I saw you having a good time there and you should have no regrets!"
- "It's not that, I just can't. Recently I had stomach problems, I was vomiting, plus I'm on medication and I'm on duty tomorrow." - she explained, and I decided to let go.
