Chapter 9:
Callie Pov:
I was walking down the hall when I suddenly heard loud thuds coming from the office. I decided to go in there and see who it is and if maybe somebody need help.
I went in without hesitation and saw Mark throwing things off the shelves. He looked nervous and I could see tears streaming down his cheeks.
- "Hey! Enough, calm down because all things will go to waste!"
- "I didn't hear you came in." - He replied, trying to tidy himself up, which clearly did not come easily to him.
- "You don't look too happy."
- "You guessed it"- he added, and laughed under his breath.
- "Then sit down and tell me what made my best friend not happy."- I said, sitting on the floor next to Sloan.
- "It's over"- he replied, devastated, barely holding back his tears.
- "I do not understand."
- "Lexie asked me to leave." - he added, this time shedding tears.
- "What!"
- "She said I'd better find a woman who wants what I want."
- "Oh god"- I said in shock
- "I can't believe it. You two can't give up, everything will work out for yourself, you'll see for yourself."
- "Maybe she's right and the two of us should go their own way."
- "Do not say that!"
- "See Callie, we're just hurting each other. We just don't function properly as a couple. Look at yourself and Arizona or Derek and Mer, you don't have such problems"
- "And you know how long it took us to communicate. Look, my wife did not want to have children at first, and now she is probably happier than I am. And Mer and Derek don't even know how many times they broke up and got back together before their wedding. I guess there is still a chance for you but you both need to be patient. And maybe Lexie is right that you have to go out with someone else to realize that you can't live without each other. But remember, I'll always be Team SLEXIE!"- I said and we burst out laughing.
- "I hope you're right."
- "Well, come here"- I said, spreading my hands towards my friend to hug him.
- "Did I tell you that I have a fantastic friend?"
- "No, who is it?"
- "Callie Torres is amazing and I love her immeasurably."
- "Love you too."
- "Oh, and soon I will be the father of her child."
- "This is so twisted"- I said, and we both burst out laughing.
- "Awful."
We sat there for a while longer, talking and laughing at the old times, and assuming what it would be like after the baby was born.
Honestly, I am very pleased that we were able to talk honestly with Mark, because we haven't done it for a long time. His relationship and now his breakup, child, work and many other things have meant that we have been spending less time on each other recently. And now, when I am 4 months pregnant and we are about to find out if we will welcome a daughter or a son in the world, I want to be pregnant and be happy about baby with him, as well as the rest of the family and friends.
