Chapter 25

Alex Pov:

Everyone was so amazed at Lexie's departure that neither of us knew what to say. We just were speechless. We stood there waiting for the ambulance. For another patient who will distract us even for a moment from thoughts about our friend.

How did I feel about it? It is difficult to answer at this point. I know Lex is broken and she must be in pain. I would like to help her somehow, but I don't think she gives to help herself. She tries to show us that she is strong and that she will cope with her problems alone. Which is probably not the best in her case.

Breakups hurt, I was pissed and hurt after Izzie, even though I was trying to hide my pain. As this mask made the anger build up inside me, I finally exploded. And I'm afraid Lexie might be the same. That suddenly there will be a moment when she will just get out and break down even more.

She hadn't been herself in the last few days and everyone had seen it. Even though I will say it again, she tried to behave normally, there was no denying that the breakup was biting her. Who is not upset or sad about a breakup? After all, we are humans and we also have feelings. But I guess if I were in the breakup right now, I'd rather be taking care of things that would help me not to think about the whole mess. It's possible, and I hope so, that this departure from Lexie, wherever she goes, makes her cut herself off from the drama for a moment. 

After we found out from Owen that Little Grey was gone, we took care of the patients as I said. Which actually took us some time. Fortunately, it wasn't very serious and only one person needed surgery. Webber and Bailey took care of her, so I had some time off.

Which after a while I no longer had, because I was called by Mer to the conference room. I was partially suspecting what was going on, so I went there quite quickly.

In the room, I could meet everyone except Sloan who had previously been in the parking lot. Everyone kept quiet and continued in some kind of shock.

- "Since we're all"- Big Grey began - "I'd like to hear the whole story of when, who and how saw my sister. Then we will all think together how to find her and how to help her" - she ordered - "So who will start informing me where my sister is?"

- "First of all, I don't think you should blame us for not talking her home. We didn't order her to go anywhere" - I said, sitting down on one of the chairs.

- "Shouldn't I blame you?!" she asked

- "Well, yesterday you said that she would be fine on her own and that we should leave her alone!" - I replied - "Somehow I didn't see you care about Lexie and her disappearance while you were going to sleep!"

- "Sorry? You know, I don't know how you deal with problems, but I know how she handles them!"

- "She can't handle them! I don't know if you noticed, but from that day on, she's just trying to show that everything is fine. I guess you should know what such hiding of feelings and emotions can lead to! And by leaving her alone we help her deepen it!"

- "It was you guys! when you found her, you left her alone and didn't take her home!" - The blonde shouted.

- "I'm sorry, but I was not at fault! I will not force her to come back with me! Goddamn it! She's grown up, let's start treating her like that!" - said Jackson

- "She's just like you Mer"- Cristina cut in - "Although she seems so happy every day and in general, she actually has a very similar character to you. You both hide everything inside. And that's why you didn't want us to look for her yesterday, because you think that people have to deal with problems by themself."

- "On the other hand, we know well that if something is happening to your loved ones, you will do whatever you can to help them. You two have the same character, you just can't see it" - April added

- "I do not think so!" - she replied - "I never escaped after breaking up! She's out! And I don't even know where she is!"

- "Because she's not as tough as you! Because she has never experienced more trauma!" - Arizona shouted - "And you" - pointed at me, April and Jackson - "It's good that you went to look for her. And from what I heard Avery found her, so all the better. How is Jackson with her?" - blonde asked.

He himself stood for a while and thought how to answer, and each of us waited for him to say something.

- "It was better with her than in the evening. But she was shocked, probably because she had argued with Sloan a moment earlier. But I thought it was better with her." - He said

- "Just tell me, why didn't you take her home?! She could be here now! We could help her already! This irritates me the most!" - Big Grey asked again

- "And you, Meredith, are starting the same thing again!"- I said, tired of the topic, why Jackson didn't take Lexie home.

- "You can't answer that question, lest it sound like you don't fail! That's why it irritates you so much!"

- "I'm sick of it!" - Jackson shouted - "I went looking for Lexie because I care about her as much as you guys! And instead of you being glad that I found her! That I made sure she was okay, that she was doing it somehow! Instead, you prefer to blame me! Because I didn't take her home! Maybe it is because of me that she is gone! And all I have to do to make you stop talking about it is to apologize! So, I'm sorry Meredith for not making your sister come home!" - he shouted, then left the room, slamming the door behind him.

- "What happened to Avery?" - asked Sloan, who had just walked in - "Gosh, a lot of you here. Is this a meeting? I forgot something?" ]

- "No, you haven't forgotten anything"- Callie explained to him - "We're trying to figure out something about Lexie."

- "Oohh"- he said, surprised and helpless. He knew very well that there was no point in trying to get him to contact Lexie, because she would not answer anyway - "If you need help, call. And I'm going to eat something" - he added and left.

Lexie's friends try to find her. Meredith is very angry with the others for not driving Lexie home.
