"Jimin, calm down love." Yoongi tried to get his mate's attention in vain. The beta has been pacing around the hearth for an undetermined period of time and the couple were simply following him with their eyes, hoping none of them will end up with a throbbing headache from the incessant movement.
Jin had called a few minutes prior and let's just say the news he brought with him didn't help in the slightest.
Taehyung had passed out.
That's all he had to say before the blonde's eyes started overflowing with tears like a broken tap.
It had taken more than a thousand calming words and touches to get him to breathe normally again. Barely.
Yoongi was in fact, worried as well. He wasn't the closest wolf to the brunette but he could only guess Jimin's and Namjoon's reaction. He wouldn't want anything of the sort to happen to his dear brother as well. And he didn't even know if the ravenette was okay. His little brother seemed to be a magnet to problems. Just his chance of mate was.. questionable to say the least. Either the Moon Goddess had a plan. Or she really just hated Jeon Jungkook. He could feebly remember when the shaman once told him how there couldn't be someone or something as strong and powerful without having a weakness someway. Thinking about it that way made sense. Jungkook was mighty, perhaps the most powerful wolf Yoongi knew. And he knew a lot of wolves. It wasn't far-fetched to think that the mate bond would be his downfall.
Yoongi only prayed it wouldn't be fatal.

"I don't know what happened to him! What if he had another panic attack?"

"Listen Jiminie, I'm sure Luna Jin would contact soon and tell us everything. There's no need to stress out for now. It could be a small accident for all we know." Hoseok calmly stated. Yoongi was thanking the Goddess for his wise alpha when he saw the tension slowly leaving the blonde in the way his shoulders relaxed.

"Come here, love." The red haired mentioned for Jimin to come closer and soon enough, the blonde was tucked in the middle of two warm bodies; Yoongi's hands gently tapping his back in a comforting manner while Hoseok's were automatically resting on his waist.
Jimin's worry had lessened enough to feel his mates' protective hold on his body.
He honestly didn't understand how he got so lucky when his best friend was nothing short of star-crossed.

Jungkook was a blushing mess when Lucas closed the bathroom door behind him and left the true blood alone.
However, one look at the clock hanging above his tv screen had him hurrying on both his feet.
Shit!
He had told Jin that he would be in the clinic in ten minutes. He was sure more than half an hour had passed by now. Goddess, Jungkook couldn't even find any valid excuse for his tardiness except for the fact he got distracted by the beta. Jungkook was having a lot of trouble lately. Ever since he forgot to take his rut pills that day in the cabins, to repeatedly missing some of his reminders, to skipping work out routines and now being late to meet-ups. Where was all this clumsiness coming from?
With his leather jacket halfway worn, a jumbled written note plastered over the coffee table and hand barely holding his phone and keys, Jungkook skipped through his apartment out of the building and half ran to the clinic.

It was only once he was close enough to the facility that he started to recognize something he apparently didn't feel buzzing at the back of his mind until now. The mate bond.
Jungkook didn't pay too much attention too it after leaving Taehyung yesterday evening. He spent the night in the forest with Lucas and in his wolf form, he tends to shed all his worries and bothers away and only focus on the somewhat freedom his animal form granted him. The first reaction to the pull of the bond had him thinking that it was, naturally, Taehyung's emotions. Whenever Taehyung was feeling specifically miserable— more than usual with that said— he felt it. They haven't marked each other yet and it was kind of bizarre to feel his other half this much, but Jungkook had long began ignoring the bizarre things going on in his life. Taehyung was just another one of these things.
He felt his pain, his giddiness and sometimes his pleasure as well. Jungkook quickly averted his mind from the latter, the thought of the things he did with Taehyung only brought dreadful guilt to him and he refused to dwell on it at the moment.
Pushing the clinic double doors, he was greeted with the particular stench of antibacterial products. Very few people were here and it's only after directing his senses to feel his surrounding did he hear the few murmurs coming from one of the far-east rooms.
Jungkook made his way to that direction and found himself inside an all white space. For a brief moment, the true blood felt dizzy.
There was too much brightness, too many beeping noises and the sudden halt of whispers.
Once he regained control of his sight and hearing, he blinked a couple of times and then stopped dead in his tracks.

"T-Taehyung?"

A few steps were enough to arrive beside the nearly unrecognizable wolf. Taehyung's upper body was as covered in bandages as his lower body was in crisp white sheets.

The overwhelming smell of copper was what shook the alpha into consciousness. His mate.. was dead-like. His complexion was blueish. His mouth was dry and cracked. There were multiple wounds across his cheeks, some deep and some shallow but both equally damaging. The skin was torn and blood dried at the sides of it that didn't get fully wiped off. A thick gauze was wrapped tightly around his head had his hair pushed back and eyebrows covered. Jungkook could only pick out the red peeking from behind the head when he got close enough.
He couldn't even see the arms that were tucked beneath the sheets but somehow he knew their state would be similar to the monstrosity he was witnessing.

"Who did this to him." His words didn't even have a questioning tone to them but they were answered anyway.

"Himself."

That's it. Jungkook dropped on his knees in one go and not even the quick reflexes of the Head Alpha and Luna were in time to hold him up.
Jungkook only saw red. He saw red all over his mate's form, blood on his hands, blood from where it was pumping rapidly through him.
How did he let this happen?
He didn't understand anything anymore. Jungkook had promised himself to be there for the younger, to help him whether he wanted him to or not. So much for a promise. He leaves him one day and this happens.
Jungkook was disgusted. He was such a worthless piece of shit.
He will never be enough for his fated mate and he will never be enough for anyone else. He was a fucking idiot.
Shaking his head, he got up on wobbly feet, Jin's hands swiftly helping him stand straight.

"Jungkook, don't blame yourself for this."

Jet black eyes lined with silver. Who else was there to blame? Jin was only being kind. Even the Head Alpha knew as much. Hence his complete silence.
Taehyung had issues. Everyone knew that. He himself knew that. But Jungkook was his mate. Jungkook was his other half. Jungkook was chosen for him. If he couldn't help the brunette, who could?

Jungkook never was a person to give up on anything really. No matter the size of the challenge, he will take it. He will do whatever it takes because he was made this way and his entire existence would be meaningless if he didn't succeed.
Call him obsessed but it wouldn't take away any of the truth.

And yet, here he was. Jungkook was a teary eyed, runny nose, shaky limbs muss. And he was lost.

Winning a challenge was his purpose. Helping people was in his DNA. But what if he's been doing the opposite to Taehyung all along? What if instead of helping his mate, he was the one breaking him?
That's the only thought running through him as he stood unmoving in front of the boy he was meant to spend the rest of his life with.
