"You're not marrying this boy!" Jiyong interjected as soon as the words left his son's mouth.

"I doubt he wants to as well but I'm hoping I can convince him."

"Jungkook, listen to me." Jungkook's mother, Goddess bless her, still had her temper in check as she spoke up. "This alpha can't possibly be the best you can do. Aelia Song is from a very noble household herself and we already have her pack's support with the Council. Think about it, this boy doesn't want you as a mate or else you would've been together for a while now."

Jungkook must admit that those particular words, true as they were, stung. Taehyung and himself would have mated long ago if it wasn't for their undeniable incompatibility. It was foolish of him to even suggest that he could convince Taehyung to accept him since he's been doing just that for months resulting in nothing other than more issues.
Jungkook remembered his last interaction with the boy only a week ago. He apologized, Jungkook thought. He apologized and I don't even know what it was he was apologizing for.
Maybe, just maybe, his parents were right.
Maybe Aelia was the best choice he had at that moment.
Maybe mating her and having an heir was going to save their pack from any more threats.
Maybe his place was still where he left it. As the head Alpha of Bangtan, with a female Luna and lots of kids running around with his cousins' ones.
Maybe...

"Alpha, Luna."

The door bursted open and in came the white haired Beta, barely noticeable sweat trickling down his temples and eyes a bit wider than usual.

"Beta, what it is?"

Yoongi looked once over to his brother and then back to his now standing father.

"We've been attacked. It started at the southeastern woods. It's the rogues."

Jungkook stood up as well, eyes wide. A rogue attack? On Bangtan?

"How did they got through?" Jiyong questioned, barely canceling his anger.

"They breached the entrance at night by badly injuring the patrols. One of them, Sooyoung, is currently unconscious. We have to announce the alert level two."

"Do it. Now."

Yoongi nodded once before storming out to fulfill the command, leaving his family in a state of budding panic. Jiyong turned towards his Luna with a look she seemed to immediately assimilate, before facing Jungkook.

"I hope you're ready to fight for your birth land, son."

Jungkook knew then and there, that the situation he was debating in his mind seconds ago has just worsened. This wasn't a matter of who to wed and who to claim. This was much more bigger.

Taehyung pov

"I hope you know that I will not come collect your carcasse when this is all over." Namjoon reminded his brother.

"And I hope you know that your words aren't gonna stop me."

"They never did anyway." The Luna mumbled as he checked the correspondences from the south.

The Council was good at creating conflict, but they fail to notice how deep loyalty and love runs inside their packs. Especially the ties that now held Bangtan and Lupus together.
Jimin was officially posing as Lupus' personal news reporter as he was constantly writing his family and former leaders information that might be of help. And every little scrap of it was highly important for whatever plan they were undermining.

Bangtan was currently surrounded by ennemies, and the north was knowing an uncommon flow of rogue attacks. From robbery to assault and the occasional disappearances, it was horrifying. Humans were easy prey but Namjoon knew what they really wanted, was to fire the warrior wolves from Lupus so they can create a breach into their security and enter the pack grounds freely.

What they also wanted, was Taehyung.

And Goddess knew the alpha was scared, truth be told. But he was far too committed to his want to find his other half that he put all his wasted hours of sleepless nights into good use and already made a plan.

Now, they were breaking him out of the borders. Lucas and Solar were accompanying him to his dismay and unadmittable relief. Lucas was just as much scared for his dear friend as was his mate. And Taehyung wasn't cruel enough to forbid him the need to help. If he dies that's his damn fault.

"Did you check the southern borders?"

"I can't believe we're breaking out of our own pack."

"Life's funny like that." the brunette shrugged, looking forward.

They were currently using one of the many tunnels their current pack was originally built upon. Namjoon was pretty smart for leaving them clear and unknown all this time even though it was against the laws. Every single inch of a pack had to be known in the identification documents of said pack ad admitted to the Council. Namjoon was only seventeen when he moved their homes from the original cabins in the mountains to this more open modernized, urban-friendly, plain-sighted placement. The Council never found the need to question the document papers since their access to Lupus has always been welcomed, even unannounced. Namjoon had to sacrifice such things in order for others to stay protected and right now, Taehyung was damn happy and proud of his calculating smartass of a brother.

"We're not going to go with you all the way." Jin started, "but you will find Suho waiting at the outer entrance of the tunnel with Hongjoong, they will lead the way from there to the unclaimed woods and from there on, you will be completely on your own."

"you have approximately four hours to make it out in the open. Will you be alright?" Namjoon reminded the three, cautious. He was partially relieved Solar was going with them, he had to admit he trusted the warrior-wolf more than his little brother. Just a bit of common sense on his part. Taehyung was known to be quite impulsive in somehow the most inconvenient of times.

The three nodded their heads gravely and made to start their journey together at first, then on their own.

All along, Taehyung's thoughts only focused on the possibilities that lay ahead of them. He knew the choice of him following Jungkook wasn't the brightest thing he thought of considering everything that's been going on lately, but somehow, he knew that he was going to follow his mate either way. Now why would he do that was a question he wasn't going to answer personally. He just knew he had too. So he did.

What awaited him on the other side, however, wasn't in either of their plans.
