Guilt.

That was all Taehyung could feel lately. Day after day, he would wake up feeling an empty hole in his chest, guilt eating him alive. And every night he would sleep with tears coating both his cheeks with the untamed feeling of sorrow hovering over his curled silhouette on the lonely bed.

Lonely and alone because Jimin was gone.
Well not exactly gone for good but after seeing his best friend in that state and trying everything in his power but failing to help him. He gave up. Namjoon having told him to let the brunette alone for the time being because he knew, deep down, that whatever his little brother was feeling had to do with a certain black haired alpha who was in a no better state. And that whatever they would want to do wouldn't help much. The comments power of the mating bond was beyond what any of them could do anyways.

At first, Jin was the one to put two and two together and best believe he ran towards his mate to inform him of the state of both his brother and his protégé.
He couldn't help but feel saddened with this situation because not only, as the Luna and former healer of the pack, it was his responsibility to assure the best health of his wolves; but also he made sure to warn both Taehyung and Jungkook of the harmful consequences of denying the mate bond. Not that it was impossible to deny but he knew that after living so long without a mate, their wolves could not withstand a rejection. They needed each other. Not only to mate but to survive.
Jin understood that point alright, and he made sure to warn the head Alpha as well. Only the concerned pair needed to acknowledge this fact. Hopefully before it gets too late.

So here they were now. Jin, Namjoon, Jimin and Beta Park were all standing outside Jimin and Taehyung's dorm room, feeling anxious and pitying the usual bright and quirky alpha.
The worst part wasn't hearing Taehyung quiet sobs in the middle of the night or his occasional sniffles here and there because the pain just wouldn't stop!
The worst part was the deadly silence they were witnessing right now while fully knowing the alpha wasn't actually sleeping but only staring with empty eyes at nowhere, not a single sound coming out of his mouth. Surrendering to the pain.

While Namjoon was absolutely scared for his little siblings state and Jin trying to keep his panicked mind in control for the sake of everyone else, Jimin was, on the other hand, completely shaken. Blaming himself over and over again, refusing to leave the dorm's door and constantly repeating to no one particularly how sorry he was.

A few miles away, in a dimly lit bedroom and curling on himself tightly was no other than Jeon Jungkook.
Yoongi was sitting on the edge of the mattress and Seojoon on the floor next to his favorite young alpha while Hyunsik was standing against the door, a deep frown on all of their faces.

"It has to be. This is just not normal! It's been a week!"

"Yoongi, please calm down." Seojoon calmly stated while typing on the elder's phone. "Luna Seokjin said that he would come here as soon as he can to explain everything."

"But he's hurting! Can't you see that?!"

"Yo.. Yoongs.."

"Yes?" Yoongi ran directly in front of his little brother, leaning in "what is it Kook? You need water? Are you hungry? Are you cold-"

"I'm alright. Don't worry about me hyung."

"Stop this nonsense Jungkook! You know you're not alright and you know I'm not blind so just tell me what I can do to help you? Who did this to you? Is it your mate?"

Jungkook only closed his eyes, another rush of fatigue washing over him from the mere effort of talking, and turned his head to the other side of his brother.

"Just tell me who is it Kook and we'll find a solution. Please.."

The raven head wouldn't budge, wouldn't answer as he felt his consciousness slowly slipping away and the tender arms of sleep taking over him with a promise of tranquility and peace he couldn't find in his awakened state.

"I deserve this."

Were the alpha's last heartbreaking whisper.

"Please, there has to be something we can do. If they're mates wouldn't they have known for a long time? Why is it only happening right now?"

Yoongi hushed voice had a pleading undertone conversing with the Luna and Alpha of Lupus.

Jin only looked down sadly, he understood Yoongi's pain for his little sibling since it was the same he felt for Taehyung but he had no choice but to tell him the truth even it might sparkle hatred and tension between the wolves. So much for an alliance , the eldest thought bitterly.

"Taehyung and Jungkook were going to reject each other."
The Luna quietly admitted.

"What?"

The look of absolute shock and confusion coated the face of the white haired beta. He couldn't have heard right. He sure was shocked to discover that his little brother finally finally found his mate after everything he went through because of it but to hear he planned on rejecting him? There's no way he can believe this!

"You've got to be kidding me. There's no way Jungkook would want to reject his mate! Do you know how much shit he went through because he didn't want to mate anyone but his chosen one?! He almost died because of it!"

Namjoon didn't like the tone the Beta was using with his Luna one bit even if he could feel the frustration of the situation as well. So he made a step forward only to be held back by the delicate hand of Seokjin.

"Trust me, Beta I understand your frustration. I may not know what Jungkook went through back in the south but I can tell you that Taehyung went through similar pain. He too didn't want to mate anyone else but his chosen one."
Jin explained slowly, hoping to calm the wolf in front of him and his alpha as well.
They were currently inside the pack grounds and more specifically outside of Jungkook's apartment where the young wolf was sleeping soundly after injecting yet another dose of wolfsbane.

"Then why do they want to reject each other now?"
Yoongi still perplexed was looking between the couple questionably.
He was faced with a small silence where the mates looked at each other most definitely communicating before the Alpha spoke this time around.

"He fell in love with someone else."
