Maybe, the very reason for our hurt comes from the infinite dictations of our mind.

"Pupunta ulit si Cal dito to check on you. I am not satisfied with just his prescriptions. I want to make sure..."

"It's just influenza."

His stance tells me otherwise. He is mad because of what happened to me. He kept on telling me how he was so afraid that night.

I struggled for the white sheets to comfort me. I am helplessly stuck in the past. The moment I got better from the flu, I told Gabriel about my brother's condition and my need for his help.

Of course he agreed. He tells me not to worry because he's done and currently doing necessary actions.

"Ako na ang bahala sa lahat. Leave the stress to me. I'm gonna make sure that person will be behind the bars soon."

That's what he'd always say. Because I also told him about the hooded person on the park that day, he immediately checked every surveillance cameras on the building and on the area.

His calculations were right. I am frequently alone the past weeks and the person was freely walking in and out of the lobby.

I shivered at the thought that he might be a floor below us... watching my move intently. And because Gabriel arrives late, for sure he wouldn't notice it too.

It's like... the suspect's been studying my life like an open book.

"You sure you don't wanna tell me anything?"

"Gusto ko nang magtrabaho."

"Kapag magaling ka na."

"Magaling na nga ako."

"Yeah, we'll ask Cal about that."

"Dude she's getting better. She can even go out now if she wants to."

"And you think that will make me sane?"

"You have my word, dude. She's responding well with the medications. Normal na influenza lang 'yan."

"But what if it comes back?"

"So she should rest more, right?"

"Maayos na ako," agap ko.

"Maayos na raw siya, dude."

"A week or so? Para makasigurado tayo?"

"A week or so!"

I understand his concern but I really want to work now. I was forced to file for a 3-day leave because of my sickness. Other than the vomiting and dizziness I've experienced two days ago, I'm a lot better now.
