Huling Kabanata: Soldier
One thing I learned most about life is its numerous struggles.
It can throw you so much.
It can bend your principles.
It can test your morals.
I can't believe there were plenty of trials.
But I am amazed I survived them all.
"Mabuti talaga, naabutan kita sa trabaho."
He was there when I was just starting my goals.
We were contented with what he have but we aimed for more.
Look at us now.
"Hectic na rin kasi ngayon sa trabaho. 'Di ko inaasahan 'yong mga kliyente. Anyway, dahil mabilis ang pag-unlad, tumataas na rin ang potensyal ng serbisyo."
His business is starting to bloom. His ventures are undeniably successful. He climbed his way on our field.
"Pero, maiba tayo. May kasalanan ka sa akin. 'Di ko pa rin nakakalimutan na hindi ka nakapunta noong birthday ko ah. Nandoon pa naman ang girlfriend ko. Ipapakilala sana kita ng pormal."
I just watched and listened with his rants like I always do.
I can't believe I'd miss his actions that forces people to mistake his identity.
"Oh, ano? Napanis ang laway sa kagwapuhan ko? Ba't 'di ka umiimik diyan? Okay ka lang?"
"Wala."
"Tss. You probably miss me, huh?"
"Oo. Na-miss kita."
Klio is one of the few people I cared for more than my family.
We shared laughter, problems, sadness, and more.
I may have not shown him how much I appreciate his existence before, but I am grateful he's still on my side until today.
"I missed you too."
We let the silence grew until the sun started to become darker in its hue.
It's still massive but it's starting to bid its farewell to welcome the nearing eve.
Iniabot niya sa akin ang biniling barbeque mula kay Manang Alice.
Siya na ang bumili nito kanina habang ako'y naghihintay lang dito.
Sumandal siya sa kotse at ganoon din ako.
Napapatingin ang ilang mga dumaraan kay Klio na pormal ang suot habang ako'y kumpleto ang unipormeng pang-sundalo.
Kumagat siya sa pagkain pagkatapos ay itinaas iyon at inilabas ang kaniyang telepono.
Tumingin ako roon at hindi na nakapaghanda nang pindutin niya ang 'shutter' ng kamera.
"Klio!"
Tumawa siya sa mukha kong tulala. Kung kailan akala ko ay mag-uusap kami ng matino, heto siya't puro kalokohan pa rin ang alam.
"Mag-uusap ba o uuwi na? Ipinagpaalam ko pa ito sa superior ko tapos ito lang?"
"Akala ko ba miss mo ako?"
