"Three to four weeks?!" I shouted in disbelief, looking at Evie.

She nodded and looked around my apartment. "Are you sure you can sleep in this kind of apartment, Naziena? It's dirty and smelly! And you're so particular."

I closed my eyes tightly. "Explain it to me first, Evie. Why does it take three to four weeks to get the DNA test results?" I calmly asked.

She patted the side of my bed before sitting down, as if it were so dirty. I rolled my eyes. She continued to look around the room with disappointment.

"If I were you, I would just get a condo unit. You have a lot of money anyway," she suggested.

"Ev, please, focus!"

"It's like this apartment is rotting. It's disgusting!"

She really wasn't paying attention to our conversation! In frustration, I stood up and grabbed my gun from the drawer. I pointed it at her, which surprised her.

"Okay! Okay! I'll focus now!" She raised her hands in surrender. "Of course, Naz, DNA tests take time. You can't immediately get the results. You have to wait, you know!"

I lowered the gun and sat back on the bed. "It takes so long."

"That's how it is! Be patient. If you're desperate to know if Ryker is really your brother, then be patient and wait. Three weeks is not that long. Time flies, and one day you'll be surprised that the day has come."

I massaged my temples. "That didn't help. Three weeks feels like a long time for me."

She laughed and tapped my back. "Well, you can't do anything about it."

I looked at her. "Make it one week, Ev."

Her eyes widened slightly. "Am I a doctor now? How can I make it one week?"

Desperately, I looked at her. "Do it, Evie! I can't wait that long! I want to know if Ryker is my brother so I can have him! But if he's not my brother..." my eyes welled up with tears.

She let out a sigh. "I heard you, Naz! I'll take care of it. If you need faster results, I'll go to America."

I felt a surge of hope, and I ran after her to give her a hug. "Aw! Best cousin ever!"

I heard her laughter. "But you owe me, baby girl."

I smiled widely. "I'll give you whatever you want!"

"I want a luxury car." Excitement filled her voice.

My smile faded, and I let go of the hug. "No."

"But you said whatever I want! That's not fair!"

I shook my head and pushed her away. "No way, you'll just ruin it, Ev. If you drive a car, it's like you're committing suicide."

She glared at me and stuck her tongue out. "Then I want a box of jewelry."

I rolled my eyes. "Whatever! Just go."

"Sure! I don't want to stay here anyway; it stinks! Ugh! I can't believe you can stay here all night."

"Goodbye!"

I closed the door on her and sighed. Evie was so particular; she didn't like this kind of place. But I'm used to it. When I was young, I used to sleep on the streets. I almost lived on the streets because I didn't know where else to go. I was 6 years old back then. Clueless, I just kept calling for Mama. even though I knew. She was already dead.

I slumped down on the bed and felt the emptiness again. What does it feel like to have a family?

"Hmm, Duziell, you're my only hope."

I miss you, Ate Nana.

I closed my eyes and remembered the last moment I was with her. It felt like a nightmare when that man took her away. I will never forget the trauma.

I took an early morning shower the next day. I felt so absent-minded while getting ready that I could hardly remember what I was doing. It felt heavy to go to school today.

I would see Ryker again, the one who mistook me for being obsessed with him. Shoot! I really don't know what to do if he turns out to be my brother!

I didn't realize that I had already prepared myself in just an hour. I was wearing my PE. uniform because we had gym class on Wednesdays. I liked the color, gray mixed with black.

I left the apartment and walked to the jeepney stop. While I was in the Jeep, I tried to focus on myself.

Why do I feel so light? Why do I suddenly feel so relieved?

I squinted my eyes when I noticed a man in the Jeep who had been staring at me. I just ignored him until I reached Campbell Academy. Compared to my mansion, my apartment was so close to this school.

"Good morning, guard!" I said with a big smile.

He smiled back. "Nays! That's how it should be, not late!"

"Yes! Haha!"

I continued walking until I reached the pathway. But I still felt something was off. Did I forget something in the apartment? What could it be?

Why was I so absent-minded while moving earlier? I felt like I left something behind, but I didn't know what!

"The crazy girl is here!"

"Look at her! She looks stupid standing there!"

"Pfft! Hahahahaha! She's an idiot!"

"Oh my god! Look at her!" I didn't hear the rest as one of the girls whispered to her friends, and they all laughed together.

I just shook my head and continued walking. But it was strange that every time someone looked at me, the students would laugh.

Is it because of my appearance?

But there's definitely something wrong!

I pushed it aside until I passed by the locker area. My curiosity got the better of me when I heard Aliyah shouting.

"Can't you stop?! You're so mean, Ryker! Leave Colby alone! You're being too much?!!"

"I see..." Ryker's voice! "Do you want to be my punching bag instead?"

I furrowed my eyebrows and headed straight towards them. From a distance, I could see Colby writhing in pain on the floor! While Aliyah stood trembling in front of Ryker, Now, she was clenching her fists, anger evident on her face.

"W-When will you stop? Until you kill him?! Until you kill Colby or anyone you feel like attacking?!" Aliyah shouted at him, still trembling.

"Why do you care so much? Get lost," Ryker responded coldly.

"Colby is my best friend! And you're hurting him nonstop! I can't stand it anymore! If you won't straighten up with the teachers here just because you're the owner's son, I'll have you thrown in jail!"

Ryker let out a smug grin. "Try it then." He pointed at Colby. "He'll end up living on the street. His mother is one of my maids; if I'm gone, they will lose their job."

"Aliyah, stop." Colby struggled to stand up and tried to pull Aliyah away.

"N-No! How can you let him hurt you?" Tears streamed down her face, trembling uncontrollably.

I winced. It's too early in the morning for all this drama. What's happening between them? Even on my first day, they're already causing a scene.

I lost sight of them when my male classmates blocked my path. These are the same guys who were teasing me yesterday!

"Hi, Nana!" one of them greeted with a friendly smile, but it was clear he was teasing. "I'm Nick, by the way."

I smiled back. "Nick? The guy who assumed I was hitting on you?"

He grinned. "Wasn't I?"

"Do you want me to punch you?"

"Go on." He leaned his head closer to me, as if he were enjoying it.

I cringed. "I don't want to touch your head; I might get my hands dirty."

He laughed, still enjoying it! "You're kind of interesting, Nana."

My face twisted in disgust. Is he flirting with me? His friends were laughing behind him. They're clearly making fun of me. Ugh, guys.

That Nick guy approached me even closer. It was a bit uncomfortable because his gaze was fixed on my chest. What was he looking at?

"Are you a pervert?" I asked irritably.

He grinned mischievously. "How about you? Are you trying to seduce me?"

My eyebrows furrowed. "What did you say?"

He lowered his gaze to my chest. "That's what I see."

I clenched my fist, ready to punch him with all my might, when someone pulled him away from me, and I was surprised to see him fall to the floor, hitting his head on the nearby locker!

Shoot, that must have hurt!

I looked up in surprise. Ryker was standing there, glaring at the other guys.

"Want to fight?" He asked them sharply.

The guys' smirks disappeared, and they immediately backed off. They lifted Nick and left without saying a word. They were like dogs with their tails between their legs!

I trembled as Ryker gave me a sharp look. Why do I see Fletcher Campbell's eyes in his?

Even after all these years,. I can't forget that man's face, especially when he killed my mother.

Ryker's eyes now resemble his father's so much.

I stepped back as he approached me. It felt like I could run at any moment for no apparent reason. But I couldn't move from my spot when he took off his leather jacket.

I was taken aback when he placed it on both of my shoulders.

"Don't you have a bra? I can see your hard nipples."

My eyes widened. "W-What?"

He averted his gaze. "You're not wearing any bras, Nana."

I gasped in shock and looked down at my chest!!

Shoot! That's why it feels so light!! Waaaah!! How embarrassing!

"I'm not wearing a bra!"

Out of all the things I could forget in the apartment, it had to be this!

No wonder that guy, Nick, said I was trying to seduce him. No wonder the girls were laughing earlier. No wonder that man in the Jeep was staring at me like that!

I covered my face. "Shoot!"

And I'm still in my PE. uniform, so it's even more obvious.

"Tsk, stupid witch." I looked up at Ryker.

"Can I borrow your jacket for now?" I asked, hopefully.

He didn't look at me, so I quickly put on the jacket and closed it. It was so loose on me-way too big!

"Give it back to me after class," he said, and he walked away arrogantly.

I smiled and ran after him, shouting. "Thank you, Ryker!"

I let out a sigh of relief and continued to walk until I reached the classroom.
